Nice moment at the back of the peloton as Thomas De Gendt congratulates Warren Barguil on his King of the Mountains win as he is dropped off the back of the peloton. De Gendt was challenging Barguil earlier in the polka-dot jersey.

The chase group of Gallopin, Navaro, Hardy, Ulissi, Attapuma and Mollard have lost 20 seconds to Edet and Lutsenko.

Neither of the two leaders are reknown climbers so they will have to be nervous about Attapuma.

Attapuma has been doing very little work in the chase group too with his team mate Ullisi pulling on the front for him.

AG2R are doing some serious work on the front of the peloton, the gap to the front is now 4.50min, 3.50 to the main chase group.

Will the breakaway be able to last or will they rue the lack of cohesion that has meant they haven’t capitalised on the numbers?

Romain Hardy, Nicholas Edet and Alexey Lutsenko have jumped off the front and lead Gallopin, Navaro, Ulissi, Attapuma and Rudy Mollard by a minute.

For those watching the tactics. AG2R & Cannondale still have riders in the main chase group.

AG2R currently lead the peloton.

However Sky still has: Landa, Nieve, Henao, Kwiatkowski & Kiryienka in support of Froome.

Lutzeko has gone off the front and Navaro & Galopin are blowing up at the rest of the front group for not working.

Their gap to the chase group is 1 minute.

Traditionally it hasn’t been used for a finish so prepare to witness something special now.
