RA want to distribute the players amongst teams through centralised coaching and contracts. Trading and draft allows for that and helps teams develop jnrs as they can become a commodity that is used increase dollars into a club. So someone like Rebels or Force can bring up good juniors then trade them out to suit their needs. Also drafts allows for lower performing teams to get picks. Similar to the NBA lottery. The issue I have with lottery is it does encourage teams to tank if it means they can pick up a number one draft. The other issue with draft/trade is some players want to be close to family which is important in Poly cultures and for others with support networks.

'They've got to have some trust': DC's vision for star trio as Jorgo says gold jersey '100%' fuelled decision to stay

Best players in Tahs. Second team in Rebels. I’d watch the rebels as the players would be working hard to make it ups to Tahs. But like red bull f1 racing and Taurus team. RA owns both so why not have one strong team and a second development team.

'Something's not working': Tahs' Good Friday turns into a nightmare as Rebels recruit Daugunu seals upset win

Nah bruv.

It’s technically a franchise. License and all.

It’s referred as a club.

And you make a solid argument that it is a state team made up of players that live without the rules that typically govern state teams as seen in other codes. Ie Taniela identifies as a qldr despite playing and living in another state. Ie no eligibility laws. He could live in Qld and still play for rebels.

MJ can call it whatever the frig he wants as long as he is playing for Tahs.

Regarding wingers. All teams need depth so Riley and Pietch can Interchange 11. 14 will be sualli and MJ 15. 13 Kellaway.

I’m more interested in the 9 battle and ten. Tahs have three excellent tens. Bowen, Edmend and Harrison.

I reckon Australia could benefit from a trading and draft system.

Only need to sell to Australian broadcasters ie Stan. That’s how the splits work now in any case. International games are separate broadcast deals.

The Wrap: With Wallabies done and dusted in 15 miserable days, who do we trust to take Australian rugby forward?

Country West was intended to cover ACT and its surrounds as well as capture everywhere outside of the Sydney strongholds. Notice I also did call out NSW specifically or QLD specifically.

BTW with drafting. Start the new comp with a full draft including all existing players. Wouldn’t that be exciting?

Haters will say we don’t have the depth of talent to support eight teams. But if we are playing internally then we are going to onboard a heap of new talent. Plus provides a pathway whereby even if a big-spending European club wants to splash cash we are getting paid for it. You don’t think that will keep the kids from going to NRL? The riches of Europe/Japan and the travel with a pathway to still play for Australia.

What do Roarers think of scrapping SRP in favor of a NRC and then more tests?

Two NSW East and West
Two Country North and West?
One Vic
Two QLD Nth and South
One WA

Put in place club sides for teams to place their young (for maturing and to get game time)
Put in place a draft system (like NBA)
Put in place a trading system (like NBA) (without some of the complex rules)

Put in place great contracts early. They can request exits to o/s or NRL but will need to pay multiple to have them released or loaned. (like FIFA). You then have a source of income coming back in as a reward for developing talent that goes elsewhere.

There are a few dependents to being attractive.

PE is looking to flip. They know the window is up to the RWC after that it’s gone.
Rugby beyond the Wallabies will get nothing.
Gate, Broadcasting and Corporate packages will be there at the RWC but not beyond unless…..

They take back viewers both broadcast and gate from other codes. I can’t see that happening even if we were winning every game today. Ironically, go to any club land game and you can see in person the answer. The community spirit is what RA needs to develop but on an Australia-wide scale. Imitation is the highest form of flattery. RA could do worse than follow AFL.

They should pump some more dollars into making club rugby a destination event. Put more dollars into bringing the public school system into little rugby nurseries.

PE and RA (at the moment) are looking at funding in short term fixes not building better foundations on the pyramid. PE will not support grassroots.

Why RA have opted to borrow $60m instead of pursuing private equity sugar hit - for now

Lonergan for me was the big omission of the three. Can kick and IMHO better than white, tate and izack all round.

Itikau has that big boot and defensive sound.

Have both of those two and you don’t need a QC.

doesn’t look good for him does it.

and yes we need gain line momentum and Hooper, Frost, Bell and Valentini need to step up in this area. Mc Reight can follow Foketi run a line in between 12/13 for clean out and gain line if needed as well.

I am but in this context thinking about Wallabies and the cattle for Wales. Unlike a lot on this forum I am not one eyed.

foketi distributes better.

Skelton injured was the killer blow. He provided weight behind inexperienced props and Slipper.

So now what? Tate being back should help unlock Carter and the backs. We need McReight and Hooper to take it up a notch or two. They both serviced their roles however they need to lift. Frost and Arnold will need to play tighter. Poreki and our reserve props need to run a little more (gain line).

Finally if Valentini is playing (a big if) they he needs to move to six in finally 20 and put Gleeson into 8 (Gleeson can cover Hooper if he isn’t giving enough).

I would put Foketi at first 12. Kellaway to 15. Back Carter to kick. Perese on bench. Dono on bench.

No point having Suli on the pine if we don’t kick to him or Mark when they are on the field.

The Welsh dont’ need to win the game. They just need to keep us from getting bonus points. They will retain possession, as such we need to keep. all in hand and keep their forwards running.

There was plenty of length on his kicks. You sure you weren’t watching the 15 from Romania

Player ratings: Skelton, Tupou Wallabies' best despite Donno's day out in World Cup opener

Don’t agree with these ratings. Skelton was good but didn’t get cross gain line often enough. McReight got a few turn overs. Hooper some good gains in carry.
Marika was deserving of another point.

I wouldn’t want Kellaway at 10 or 12. But agree on the rest.

Exclusive: Eddie to spring huge No.15 shock to start World Cup as Donno's 'natural game' gives him an edge

Bowen ahead of Edmed? I dunno. Both are very similar but Edmed for me will play 10

Kellaway ahead of Mark? are you serious? I like Kellaway at 15.

I feel like Max is being kept on ice because they don’t want to ruin him in this RWC for future years and also because they are worried about him performing under the bright lights.

and that may be the case.

But you don’t know until you put him into the fire. He seems to have a very tempered approach and cool under fire if super rugby is to be considered (which I know is not the same). This match and Portugal are the only opps to find out for now. That said; cohesion is the important factor here overall. Max is better than Dono at 15. And Kellaway is better than Donno at 15. Donno is there because CGs kicking was off. It’s a reason I was advocating for Lonergan who didn’t get a ticket to France.
Donno is good at the cross-field kick for Mark and will do well for Suli as well. Watch for him in the red zone as second reciever kicking out to Mark or Suli.

as a skills coach I believe. what you are missing is that Jones will explain what he wants. he just needs air cover to get it across the line. He needs/wants a coach that can deliver the right mental approach from the players. think of him like a motivation coach.
