Plenty of rippers in there. The Cotrell one is hard to beat. Saw it live and I couldn’t believe it. Simply brilliant.

Best catches of the 2019 Cricket World Cup

True Ric. Besides Williamson nobody from the Blackcaps averaged above 40. Latham averaged below 20 with the bat and the other two openers used in the tournament averaged below 30. Willaimson was a class above for the Blackcaps. The other player who had a wonderful tournament was Jimmy Neesham. He really has come of age now and will be integral to the team’s future games.

#JeSuisGuppy: Martin Guptill's pivotal and hopeless World Cup

I don’t know why, but the Blackcaps seem to have tight contests at World Cups. NZ vs Bangladesh, NZ vs South Africa, NZ vs West Indies, NZ vs India and NZ vs England were all tight and memorable matches. I thought that the NZ vs West Indies wouldn’t be beaten in terms of a tight contest. The final trumped that game. I nearly had a heart attack watching the final. Great game, gutted about the ending but life goes on. NZ have a good future ahead.

I can’t believe he made that decision. The Pakistani batsmen were struggling to play the Afghani spinners, even the part-timers.

The 1996 World Cup semi-final springs to mind Paul when you mention the word, ‘riot’.

Those first two paragraphs really sum up how I feel about the match. A tough one to take but I do feel blessed to have witnessed possibly the greatest match ever.

Lord's: A glorious cricketing tragedy

I reckon his ODI status maybe in jeopardy but hopefully he can get a run in the Test team in the near future. Especially if there’s a tour to the subcontinent.

Glenn Maxwell's Test career cruelled by World Cup flop

Zimbabwe just keep falling further and further down. Sad to see.

The ICC must not let Zimbabwe wither

That final was the best game ever. It had everything in it. The fact we are still speaking about shows how great the match was. The one thing I really liked about this World Cup was generally how the pitches had a bit in it for the bowlers. It made the contest pretty intriguing.

The World Cup final cricket needed

Kane Williamson is a class act and his batting was brilliant throughout the tournament. Only had two scores below 30 for the tournament. Carried the team at times and captained the side beautifully. Outstanding stuff from the man from Tauranga.

Odds and ends from World Cup 2019 final

It’s a tough one to accept Ronan, but in the end, life goes on. I’m proud of the way carried themselves through that situation. Kane Williamson is a class act. I honestly wonder what he is made of sometimes. Not many things seem to bother the guy. They are a wonderful team and there are plenty of positive signs for the Blackcaps in the future.

New Zealand were robbed in the World Cup final

We have some good players coming through the ranks as well Ronan. This could be New Zealand’s best chance to win their first series in Australia since the great Richard Hadlee destroyed the Aussies in 1987. Plus, it has been quite some time since New Zealand have played a Boxing Day Test and New Years Test. The experience will help the team for the future. There’s news of Ferguson potentially playing Test match cricket this year. I reckon him, or a guy with similar pace could come in handy in Australia. Can’t wait for this summer. It should be a cracker of a series between Australia and New Zealand.

NZ can beat Australia this summer

Those two weeks after Sri Lanka beat England were a bit intriguing but to be honest the World Cup, in terms of match outcomes haven’t really been close other than 6-7 games. I hope it doesn’t either mate.

Poor is an understatement mate. They liked really deflated.

That was a great prediction Brian.

Thanks Paul. Yeah, there were a few moments that didn’t go New Zealand’s way, but then again, to lose by over 100 runs is quite disappointing. I couldn’t believe Henry Nicholls didn’t review his dismissal. That moment indicated the lack of confidence there was in the Blackcaps.

Well, times change really quickly Paul. Australia have been really impressive at times throughout this World Cup. The semis will be interesting.

Ben, the way our openers are going, we might as well open with Kane Williamson.

Jeff, I think the bowling has been fine. Everyone has done their bit with the ball. Santner might be the one bowler that might come under scrutiny though. His wicket-taking ability has been a worry of late.

Hey Ronan. Thanks for the comment and I really admire the way you write your articles. Yeah, the batting has been ordinary. Williamson is the only batsman from the New Zealand line up to average more than 40 with the bat in this World Cup. The rest have been nothing short of disappointing. It’s just so weird, because there were a few of New Zealand batsman who were in pretty good nick heading into the tournament. The semi-final against India will be tough, but as a Kiwi supporter, I’m always hopeful.

Hey mate. Thanks for commenting. I kind of agree at times to an extent. I actually liked the old format of two groups or even the one they had in 2007, despite that particular World Cup being a bit dull. I think at times the ICC do cater or maybe are intimidated by the BCCI, because of the BCCIs financial strength. Which format did you like in regards to the ICC Cricket World Cup mate?

The five best games of the Cricket World Cup so far

Hey DaveJ. Always good talking to you mate. You always a differing opinion and I appreciate that. Yeah, I guess I got a bit too descriptive there. The 5 games I mentioned were definitely the closest games. In terms of the drama aspect, I don’t think any game would go past the New Zealand-West Indies game and the Afghanistan-Pakistan game. The latter was marred by some bad behaviour from the crowd but those games for me were really dramatic. The other game that was probably tight and just missed out on this list would be the New Zealand vs Bangladesh game. Arguably if the Bangladesh wicket-keeper didn’t make that error, New Zealand might have lost. However, the points you have made about chasing are true. Chasing hasn’t been easy in this World Cup at all. There haven’t been too many successful chases in this World Cup. Maybe it’s the conditions or some other element. What do you reckon DaveJ?

The five best games of the Cricket World Cup so far

One person’s influence that has been massive in this World Cup would be Ricky Ponting’s influence. Punter was fairly good at implementing tactics. He has a sharp mind and his presence seems to have rubbed off on the Aussies at this World Cup so far. Australia do look good heading into the playoffs.

Australia's success down to super coach Langer

Definitely to what most people thought. The contest between bat and ball has been a highlight of this tournament.

Bat first to win this World Cup

Probably not as quick as the bowlers from the 2003 World Cup but goodness gracious it’s something else watching a pacer spearing a yorker at 150km/h. Ferguson has been good to watch as well but Starc is just on another level as opposed to everyone else. Starc loves World Cups. World Cups seem to bring the best out of him.

Raw pace is dominating this World Cup
