Maybe the Broncos (with the guidance of Adam Reynolds) are simply starting to realise their potential, rather than Souths are playing like rubbish-they’re just being beaten by a better team!

Yes, I accept that it was foolish for Souths to only offer Reynolds a 1-year contract extension to someone who would have been happy to be a one-club man, when many teams like the Broncos, were desperate for an experienced player to guide them around a game and would pay bigger $ for that experience, but you gotta lock that down.

I also accept that letting Gagai go at the same time was a poor decision. I understand Gagai wanting to go back to Newcastle and help them after they threw him a lifeline when he stuffed up at the Broncos but Souths should have done what was needed to keep him too.

Are the Rabbitohs going to make the eight?

Seems like you had a ‘plethora’ of narratives El Guapo…..

'Small' NRL clubs may not get close calls, but their coaches don't get calls for their heads either

What a boring game of rugby league that was.
If the NRL thinks that they are going to bring in fans with blowout finals scorelines like what we just experienced (when even Manly decided to take off their entertaining players), then they are kidding themselves.
The Storm (a team in a non-NRL state, that the NRL are determined to offer every advantage to, despite those efforts, not gaining any traction in an AFL dominated state, or not striking them out of existence for year after year of salary cap rorting and letting them poach young QLD talent that should be offered to Qld NRL teams in priority, in a state that actually supports rugby league) are just going to end up playing the NSW team they want to create a narrative and it’ll end with a Storm blowout that will be boring to watch!
I don’t understand why the NRL is so concerned with ensuring a non-rugby league state gets a team consistently winning their competition when they should be ensuring QLD has a team (or multiple teams) going deep or actually into the finals every year – much better for TV ratings which is what their competition is going to live and die on when they negotiate TV rights.
Remember the Broncos Cowboys 2015 GF classic – now THAT was a Grand Final for the ages that even neutrals could enjoy, unlike the Storm massacres since then!
That’s the product the NRL should be aiming for.
Thanks PVL for stuffing it up ????

'The Roosters had no answers': Talking points from the Sea Eagles' decimation of the Roosters

Except Ramien did the same to Farnsworth twice in the game and no penalty or 10 in the bin!

NRL happy to help out the Sharks in this game….

Disgraceful performance from the referees!!

Was a sin-binning the right punishment for this 'forceful' high shot?

Very convenient for the NRL to miss Ramien’s high shots on Farnsworth.

He should have been in the bin for 10 minutes and that would have made a difference…

Sharks back in finals spot after Broncos win

So it’s official – the inmates are running the asylum!

Stop changing the rules every frickin’ season – you aren’t game theorists, you’re footballers who aren’t attending any Mensa meetings and are making rules changes after a decade or so of being hit in the head many, many times!

If you want to change some rules, then reward teams that have a good development program with salary cap relief if they retain their development players (in a top 36) for say 5 years after they become adults.

For our next trick ... NRL considers radical kicking rule which could be trialled in round 25

I really don’t like it when they play chicken too 😉

The blatant Cleary shoulder charge and what it confirms about the NRL

If an NRL coach made similar comments about NRL referees’ sucking’ so to speak, then they’d attract a $10,000 fine.

But no penalty for Annesley for carrying on the way he did.

An excellent example of ‘one rule for us and another for everyone else’!

The blatant Cleary shoulder charge and what it confirms about the NRL

I’m not so sure about your thesis.

I, for one, enjoy the cathartic experience of having a good cry 3 times a year and why not do this at the end of any Wallabies match against the All Blacks?

And there’s always so, many reasons to cry after a Wallabies performance in a Bledisloe match….

The simple, infallible way the Wallabies can stop losing the Bledisloe Cup every year

“before being served the twin catastrophes of a state shutdown and a Broncos game this Sunday”.

That sentence in the article hasn’t aged well…

GO BRONCOS!!! 🙂

Broncos, Maroons, lockdown: Queensland need Wayne Bennett to fix everything

One rule for the Top 4 teams and another rule for the rest!

The Melbourne juggernaut can win the competition with their attack

I think RL will survive if V’Landys lets the game bring back the John Hopoate finger tackle.

It’ll get the attacker to drop the ball and it DEFINITELY isn’t head high 😉

RIP rugby league: 1908-2021

I love the Broncos but your article still made me laugh (and if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry)!

I guess that makes me a bad person 🙁

I think you could make some coin if you put the ‘Shame on you, mascot horse’ line on a t-shirt! (it also works for the Australian Olympic equestrian team when it has a dry run!)

Broncos crisis: Keep calm and blame one individual entirely

There has never been a more vivid (or accurate) simile describing the hopes dashed by the Broncos performance last Friday as “That hope was slammed like a tongue in the car door”!

My team is going really bad 🙁

Eight talking points from NRL Round 7

I think Kevvie is rapidly approaching the point of getting out the curtain and a shotgun!

I know the conditions were awful in Darwin but the Eels played in those conditions too.

It started off with a schoolboy error of a dropped kick-off after 4 seconds of play, followed by conceding a try after the first 4 tackles of the game within 95 seconds of the start of the play.

Broncos hang in the game for roughly half an hour, then the old ‘3 tries in 7 minutes at the end of the 1st half’ routine, followed by the routine 2nd half total collapse and voila, a 40 point loss!

That game was huge step backwards for the Broncos! I can’t see them having any chance of a win until Round 9 against the Cowboys (and I think the Broncos ATM would struggle to compete with them!)

Walters gives epic spray to sorry Broncos after Eels thrashing

While all you tipsters got the Penrith result right, you’ll ALL need to eat the disrespectful words you used to describe the Broncos!!

Penrith only got the win with a little Cleary brilliance at the death there (& some help from the referees deciding not to penalise 2 Penrith players for dangerous tackles that should have been send offs or at least 10 in the bin!).

It appears clear that the NRL and referees aren’t genuinely committed to protecting player health in games (unless they play for the Top 4).

The Roar’s NRL expert tips and predictions: Round 6

In the first 8 rounds of the 2021 season, the Broncos have or will play the Eels & Titans twice and the Storm, Rabbitohs and the Panthers, so that’s 7 out of 8 games against teams in the top 6!
I don’t think any other team has such a terrible draw against the top teams (all of whom appear to be playing well this season) for the first third of the season and I think the Broncos have the worst draw of any NRL team for 2021!
Such a bad draw is not the time when your team should be trying to figure out a halves combination and when those candidates are all running VERY hot & cold from week to week.
No real consistency in the spine means the team is often going to be paralysed.
Halves don’t know how long they’re going to be on the field or when they’ll get hooked, so they’re risk-averse and not building the confidence needed to develop & implement plays.
Middles get injured or suspended (or in Haas’s case, get sanctioned out for the first few rounds of the season for very poor off field behaviour), so they aren’t getting consistent game time to develop their endurance or to experience being a part of whatever plays are actually getting implemented.
They need wins to build self-confidence but that isn’t going to happen when you’re playing the top 6 week-in, week-out!
St George got to start their season against teams in the bottom 8 or fringe top 8 teams and those achievable wins appear to be giving them the self-confidence to play consistent football.
So, there a lot of things that are making 2021 a difficult season and allowances need to be made to Walters and the team for those things.
Having said those things, it is kinda dispiriting for the fans at the moment but, as long as we don’t get the spoon again there is, literally, nowhere to go but up!
GO BRONCOS!!!

Don’t sell your Brisbane Broncos shares just yet

No, the future does not auger well for the Broncos 🙁

I don’t think we’re going to have another genuine, believable chance to win a game until at least the Round 8 return rubber against the Titans and more likely Round 9 against the Cowboys.

And that’s 1/3rd of the season gone by then….

Assuming you need at least 26 but probably 28 points to make the top 8, that looks like a big ask from the rest of the season for a team that’s got little confidence, has formed a habit of losing and doesn’t appear to be able to deal with much in-game adversity at the moment!

An unsettled 6 & 7 combination (who each play VERY hot & cold from game to game) along with middles who can’t seem to form a platform for the 6 & 7 to even work from to become settled, means while there probably won’t be another piece of spoonage won this year, finishing 11th or 12th isn’t the progress we’re looking for!

Still, maybe a comet will wipe out all trace of man before GF day….

GO BRONCOS!!!!!

Premiers versus wooden spooners

Much like the Broncos, I don’t have a lot of confidence that they’re going to beat the Bulldogs next week and from looking at their draw, they probably won’t have a chance of wining until Round 9 against the Cowboys, so that would mean the Broncos will have the longest losing streak in modern NRL history all wrapped up by then!

🙁 🙁

Glenn insists Broncos are better than 2020

Well punned, although I’m saying that through tears 🙁

Glenn insists Broncos are better than 2020

Eddie McGuire has decided to change his surname to ‘Ostritch’ by deed poll.

He’s doing quite an impressive impression of one at the moment!

Eddie McGuire's trainwreck of a spin job only reinforces damning Collingwood report

Nope!

Australia's shaky batting could cost the Border-Gavaskar trophy

I blame Hillary!

Channel 7 exposed as desperate and naive in cricket’s messy TV stoush

I hear that the Wallabies are lobbying to rename the heimlich manoeuvre after Hodges!

If you can’t beat a team playing its 4th consecutive match in a month, then there’s something terribly wrong!!

Deja vu for Hodge as Wallabies and Pumas play out another draw

Both 😊 and 😢

Which superpower is in faster decline: America or Queensland rugby league?
