It should also be pointed out that Parramatta WOULD have had Israel Folau this season…if the NRL had shown more initiative to see the deal done

I agree regarding the CEO confusion over the years, needs to be sorted once and for all a.s.a.p.

I disagree that Ricky left NSW in tatters, he took them to within a field-goal of winning last years series and restored a sense of pride in the jersey. NSW may well have won this years series had they not lost their two best players to injury…but thats another story.

As for the job he’s doing at Parra…he has already done a better job than many previous coaches by doing what needed to be done, a clearing of deadwood players. Look at the current Eels run-on squad…the majority of the team are fresh out of high-school and are just beginning to learn how to play first grade football. Stuart, or any coach, would struggle with the current cattle he has to work with.

Two of those problems have been addressed in the signing of 6. Norman and 9. Peats. They may not be world beaters, but they are both better options than Parra’s current 6 and 9.

The majority of the team is far too inexperienced for them to try to play like 2009 or make a serious run at avoiding this years spoon.

Best for Eels fans to look ahead to 2014.

The simple facts are…

Nathan Peats is a far better Hooker than Matt Keating…that is an upgrade

Corey Norman is a better player than Ben Roberts…another upgrade

And I can assure you, both those Poms are very good signings.

I agree fully with that.

The problem is the majority of those nursery players will not be ready for first-grade rugby league for at least another two or three years.

The fact that Parra have been quick to lock up Tanginoa and Terepo to long term deals shows they do recognise some young talent.

If I were the Parramatta CEO, I would employ Brett Kenny as a nursery recruitment officer a.s.a.p….assuming he’d take the job.

There is more chance of Chris Sandow being elected President Of The United States then there is him playing fullback for Parra next season.

Jarryd Hayne will be Fullback for the Eels in 2014. Hayne has actually had an exceptional season at fullback in a mostly losing side this season.

Norman will be five-eighth…either alongside Sandow or Luke Kelly

Nathan Peats could well prove to be Parra’s best signing in years.

FAR too much emphasis is placed on ‘club form’ in regards to NSW selections….if we pick a NSW side for every Origin game picked soley on club form at the time (something that can change from week to week) we’d have a largely different squad for every game. Some players, who although may not be setting the world on fire at club level at the moment, remain proven Origin players who can still deliver on the night for their state (I.E. Darius Boyd in last year’s series). Queensland learnt this a long time ago…why can’t we?

There’s an old English Football adage that seems lost among Rugby League heads…”Form is temporary, class is permanent”…

I remember last year people complaing about Jarryd Hayne’s selection, due to his shaky club-form at the time. Low and behold, Hayne stepped up in the Origin arena and put in a great effort throughout the series. A proven Origin player, he know’s whats expected on that stage and has the instinctive talent to deliver.

Now to the current #7 dilemma….

“Adam Reynolds is the pivotal player in (his) team. He unleashes Greg Inglis”…yes, he does, but he wont have GI with him in Origin will he?
“He kicks so accurately. He is also incredibly consistent” Yes, he has been…against The Roosters. And The Bulldogs. And The Warriors…NOT the Queensland team.
If Reynolds gets the chance for Game 1, so be it, but as it stands right now…he is a very talented young prospect, who has never played in the Origin arena or expierienced what it’s like to go up against The Maroons. Mitchell Pearce, while inconsistent, has been there and done it, he knows what to expect from Queensland. And it needs pointing out that with Peace at #7 last year, the Blues did only lose the series by a field-goal.

Laurie Daley's NSW campaign already doomed

Wing or not….leaving out NSW’s most prolific try-scorer the last few years would be just plain stupid.

How to win Origin? Play players in their positions

Hayne wasn’t injured…he was just out of posiition. He’s a running back, not a five-eighth

How to win Origin? Play players in their positions

This article is a waste of time. Hayne will not be NSW five-eighth, that issue is over with….Hayne must be in the NSW backline somwhere however.
Andrew Johns played Hooker for NSW, Darius Boyd plays on the wing for Queensland, Billy Slater played on the wing for Queensland, Brett Mullins played on the wing for NSW, Paul Gallen at Prop for NSW, ….there is nothing wrong with picking players out of their regular spots as long as they are calculated decisions.

We tried not playing a single player out of position in Game One last series…and it didnt work. We then played with players ‘out of position’ in Game Two and WON.

Dont count Farah in yet

Ricky, is it a State of Origin or a State of Confusion?

There is more chance of Luke Lewis becoming President of the United States next year than there is of him being selected at Halfback for NSW.

Ricky, is it a State of Origin or a State of Confusion?

I would have no objections to Brett Stewert being NSW fullback…..but injuries seem to be a regular problem for him.

I agree NSW need to put as much pressure on Cameron Smith as possible….but class wins Origin, not cheap tactics and niggle.

Ricky, is it a State of Origin or a State of Confusion?

And yet none of those prop fowards, be it Weyman, Tamou etc rack up the kind of stats Gallen does when he plays in the front row….basically, Gallen, a lock/backrower does a BETTER job playing front row than any other NSW prop does.

Gallen in the front row worked exceptionally well in games two and three last year….if something isnt broken, dont try to fix it.

Ricky, is it a State of Origin or a State of Confusion?

That was me who made that comment about Morris….i never said he has played fullback against NOBODY teams, i mentioned Newcastle, Cronulla and The Tigers….fine attacking teams on their day…..but no where near the level of The Maroons. Morris has had trouble coping at times with the pressure of Origin on the WING…let alone at fullback.

Ricky, is it a State of Origin or a State of Confusion?

Well, we will see where Hayne’s fitness is at a couple of weeks from now, but from the looks of things, he’s getting fitter and fitter…he didnt even have any padding on his knee today.
I cant recall how many times Greg Inglis and Justin Hodges have gone into an Origin game not at 100% fitness…but for some players, its worth the risk.

Cheers.

Ricky, is it a State of Origin or a State of Confusion?

I wouldnt say Dugan had a shocker in game one either….but he hasn’t done anywhere near enough the last 16 months to warrant automatic selection as NSW fullback.

Ricky, is it a State of Origin or a State of Confusion?

Uate was involved in NSW series loss last year………..If we are going to omit every player who has played in a losing NSW team the last six years, we will never get ANYWHERE.

Ricky, is it a State of Origin or a State of Confusion?

Hayne is the most hated player in Queensland for a reason…..

Thats the same backline many are recommending…its an obvious and common-sense selection…to everyone except Ricky.

Ricky, is it a State of Origin or a State of Confusion?

Hayne is fit enough to play fullback or wing (his knee padding was gone this afternoon), his problem today was he is not a five-eighth, he’s a running back.

Ricky, is it a State of Origin or a State of Confusion?

Watching the game today….a small part of me cannot help but wonder if Jarryd Hayne was set up to fail today. He is NOT a #6, he is a RUNNING back, and because of Stuart’s pushing him into the City 6 role, he missed his chance to shine playing his natural game.

Ricky, is it a State of Origin or a State of Confusion?

My tunnel-vision comment was regarded to those who want Morris at fullback SOLEY based on his form for the Dragons….not due to injury. If Hayne, Dugan, Stewert are all unavailable due to injury heading into origin one, then yes, Morris is our best hope. But if one of these specialist fullbacks is available, they would be my choice. Morris has only been at fullback at club level for a cup of coffee.

Cant say where Dugan and Stewert are fitness wise…but Jarryd Hayne is getting fitter by the week….but he should have never been picked at five-eight for todays game, it was a waste of Jarryd and everyone else’s time…Hayne is a RUNNING back, end of story.

I agree today’s CVC game accomplished nothing. Carney and Pearce looked sharp at times, Ryan Hoffman was impressive, Tariq Sims looked hungry and Robbie Farah worked his rear off (not that it will do him any good)…but it really didnt achieve anything

Ricky, is it a State of Origin or a State of Confusion?

Ferguson has plenty of potential….but Akuila Uate has NSW the right wing spot sown up.
