When they make the call that running blindly into the space beneath someone who will be jumping (9 out of 10 ) could reasonably expect what happened

Game’s gone soft, huh? League's tough enough without dangerous incidents getting feather touch from judiciary

He didn’t break the time hoy posted above? Surely at least careless (reckless for mine)

I don’t think there’s any evidence defenders come off second best more often.

I think there’s pretty clearly some risk as it led to a serious injury. Then do we try and minimise it or not?

I know there are probably similar tackles regularly not causing injury but if there is a relatively easy fix (such as putting more onus on the tackler to prevent the accident) then I don’t think we need to settle for the situation where only luck (not the tackler or the rules) prevents you from getting a 6 week facial fracture

I’m not for send offs for all head clashes like union seem to want but there were a couple of unnecessary things he did that led to the risk going up a fair bit and they should be looking at those

And where is that place though ( not trying to single him out)?

Can you just run around doing risky things and as long as you don’t specifically mean to injure you have no responsibility for what happens to others?

Where do you see Mays responsibility to avoid dangerous accidents sitting?

He clocked off after contact with JT . No JT in the line he likely keeps jogging across close enough to react to the switch and have a shot at tt.

Stay clear of the defensive line

Moses-inspired Parra prove they're finals contenders but Manly seething as Bunker lacks 'common sense' with no-try call

We could try making super successful and be able to pay them closer to what they’re worth

'It's time we grew up': The jarring hypocrisy that proves All Blacks are getting key call all wrong

I’d say most of those you see don’t result in high contact issues. Anyway probably needs a closer look than I’m able to give it

The Wrap: Reds light up Melbourne, while it's lights out for TV over Lienert-Brown concussion

I’d like players dropping their top half into danger zone to turn to provide a decent non head target

They can lead with their shoulders though instead of the head

Always thought not replaying injuries when they don’t know it’s fine is more for the players family

No excuse for Leniu being ignorant of the impact of his words - eight-week ban sends strong message against racism

What can happen to a ball carrier isn’t relevant here.

'What you permit, you promote': Reds slam late 'cheap shot', HMP set to start ahead of Lynagh in Rebels grudge match

Let’s say he was committed to a tackle, he surely had time to lessen impact rather than accelerate and go for the biggest hit he could (on a target he knew wouldn’t move or offer hard resistance)

Think you mean the springbok wing. The French one was for high contact I think

im not allowed to offer discussion on an article written about it for an aussie site? might affect theroar business model a touch.

nevertheless its obviously an emotive issue and im not going to engage with you further given the personal attack. I will say that i do see youre point of view and please understand that my posts arent the definitive end point on the issue.

The Wrap: The two massive power shifts shaping Australian and New Zealand rugby

no worries mate, individual criticism isnt a prblem, theres just a predictable extended pile on every reds article and i dont see it possible that he’s as bad as the collective crowd view and still be selected. i also know theres a prevailing wish out there for ex leaguies to not do well and they always get knocked down a level (how often do we see leaguies with wallaby careers described as failures).

anyway hope its not taken too personally, very much a comment on the collective.

full disclosure tbh im not watching the games this year so have to base on past seasons.

'Breathing life back into Australian rugby': How Reds revolution can supercharge several Wallaby careers

Js will need to go gangbusters to be given anything but a fail stamp for sure

'Breathing life back into Australian rugby': How Reds revolution can supercharge several Wallaby careers

Yes I know that’s a popular narrative. Coaches have their jobs riding on assessments like these so it’s curious that they seem to differ so much from the crowd view and I wonder where the reality lies

'Breathing life back into Australian rugby': How Reds revolution can supercharge several Wallaby careers

I’m sure there is a reason. Suspect it’s a bit not complex than anything suli himself can or can’t do
Perhaps there’s also a reason he keeps getting selected for shower and above to the mystification of those same people

'Breathing life back into Australian rugby': How Reds revolution can supercharge several Wallaby careers

Haha no matter how positive the situation no discussion about the reds would be complete without a crack at suli

'Breathing life back into Australian rugby': How Reds revolution can supercharge several Wallaby careers

Fair enough. Not world rugby at lower levels. Nevertheless i still think it’s pushing the friendship to use the challenge for political statement when the opposition have essentially universally taken the decision to respectfully stand and receive the challenge.

A little arrogant if the expectation is that they come forward and respecfully listen while the opposition raise a political point each game

The Wrap: The two massive power shifts shaping Australian and New Zealand rugby

Feel free to try and explain

The Wrap: The two massive power shifts shaping Australian and New Zealand rugby

world rugby have granted the time and dictated how it must be observed including opposition behaviour. its nothing to do with me. fair enough perhaps its different at super level.

any kind of challenge is fine. question whether oppositions need observe and respect the ‘challenge’ tho when its not actually a challenge but a statement about an issue that has nothing to do with them. maybe im misunderstanding the entirety of the message tho

The Wrap: The two massive power shifts shaping Australian and New Zealand rugby

For me an issue is that the time provided for the haka etc is for cultural respect and for them to lay down a challenge to the opposition.

Feel like using that time to make statement about specific current issues is pushing what that time has been granted for
