So teams in SA and WA as well as a team in Tasmania coming, still doesn’t qualify AFL as the national sport? Dumb argument
Footy race: Well-run AFL is miles ahead of lumbering NRL - and here are six reasons why
The AFL abandoned suburban grounds many years ago and is still flourishing. In Sydney teams could easily play out of CommBank and Allianz instead of ordinary suburban grounds that aren’t really that great to watch footy at.

You need more than a month to plan a Grand Final just thought I’d clear that up for you
Sorry, Sydney - Magic Round needs to stay in Brisbane. If it moves south, it’s just another weekend
No he has said on a number of occasions halfback is his preferred position
ANALYSIS: Ciraldo gets last laugh after falling-out as Bulldogs down Dragons to ensure Griffin's time is nearly up
Sloan, Amoan, Sullivan and Hunt at dummy half. That’s been our best combination for a couple of years unfortunately Griffin cannot see it.
ANALYSIS: Ciraldo gets last laugh after falling-out as Bulldogs down Dragons to ensure Griffin's time is nearly up
Griffin was done at the end of last season I have no idea why they persisted with him this year. So many close losses that could have been wins with a more expansive style of play
ANALYSIS: Ciraldo gets last laugh after falling-out as Bulldogs down Dragons to ensure Griffin's time is nearly up
After one tough game? Way too harsh you quickly forget how he dominated Anzac Day.

I’ve always thought Hunt was a better 9 than 7. He can handle the defensive workload and pick and choose when to run. Having a hooker that kicks as well as Hunt can only benefit the club. They have a talented halfback dominating NSW Cup in Sullivan it seems the obvious solution but over the years no one has realised it.

I thought the first half was the most entertaining footy I’ve seen all tear and I’ve seen every game. Unfortunately the second half was pretty dour and Averillo showed his class to burn the Dragons several times. It’s painfully obvious that Liddle is the Dragon’s best hooker and is surely capable of punching out 80 minutes so not sure why the club persists with starting with Mbye who offers little in attack or defence. On a bright note, Max Feagai was decent on the wing and even when Ravilawa is fit again I would keep him in first grade.

Amone is a super talent being hamstrung by Hook’s conservative playing style. Moses Mbye should have been the Dragons player you mentioned
Which players should your team stop persisting with?
Good to see Max Feagai get another opportunity he has always excelled at NRL level
Round 9 team lists Late Mail: Cleary doubt, Turbo out, Walker wins at judiciary, Dolphins switch
One game only on Anzac Day the Storm/Warriors game seems like an afterthought. Definitely agree about the last post thing, I’m over it by Anzac Day which is the only game it should be played at.
NRL moving toward crass commercialisation territory with Brandzac Day as Last Post fatigue sets in
I’m with you Mary. The last post and Anzac Day jerseys should be reserved for the two teams that play on Anzac Day the Dragons and Roosters. Hearing the last post for a week is a bit much
Lest we forget the Anzac Round conundrum - less is more as commercialisation takes over
Australia has never had a conference system in any sport and this convoluted mess is why. There aren’t enough teams to sudden divide them into divisions or conferences. It works in the NFL and NBA they both have over 30 teams spread across the entire country. It would create more problems than it solves
NRL is expanding so conferences and divisions must be brought in - but only if they're done right
Agree. The author wanted to see how much sensationalism he could squeeze into an article. I fail to see how this situation is going to torpedo their season. Should be writing for the Daily Telegraph
Who’s to blame for Dragons’ mess? Nobody but themselves with Griffin situation set to torpedo another season
Kogarah and WIN Stadium. Sorry if that was a bit confusing for you
Bring back the Bears nostalgia only goes so far: Norths no certainty to be a success if brought out of hibernation
NSO is a beautiful old ground but is not NRL standard, not by a long way. It is great for NSW Cup games which is where the Bears belong. They have been out of the NRL for 20 years. People growing up during that time are supporting other teams and it’s pure fantasy to suggest they will start supporting the Bears. There is no need for another Sydney team and the Bears should only be playing at NSO. It’s a big no for me
Bring back the Bears nostalgia only goes so far: Norths no certainty to be a success if brought out of hibernation
Melbourne are arguably the most successful team in the NRL era and have great crowds and membership is huge. Are you suggesting this is not how it’s done?

After 57 offseason articles about the Dragons being wooden spoon favourites it was a pleasure to be at Kogarah and watch them prove the clowns wrong. Great stuff
Hagan’s Round 2 Talking Points: 20-team Pacific expansion makes sense, Dolphins dynamic, Knights brave amid adversity
Commentators are basing their flimsy articles on trial form, which if you know your rugby league, means nothing. I’ve always rated Sloan the better fullback over Ramsey and he already has that combination with Amone and Sullivan. The forward pack is ok without being great. The doom and gloom articles are very amusing
Griffin door about to close: Why Dragons will be slithering back down ladder
Another boring article bashing the Dragons surely there is something interesting to write about. The article drones on about players who are this and that, but ignores the fact that with an almost identical roster they probably should have player finals last year. There were half a dozen games last year the Dragons should have won. But apparently they will fall off a cliff and slide right down the ladder. Why? I’m not sure, the article doesn’t really go into any great detail. Mentions that he squad has inconsistent players or lacks star power that’s about it. I think the Dragons will surprise this season and make the finals
Griffin door about to close: Why Dragons will be slithering back down ladder
Jayden Sullivan is fit. He played in the Charity Shield.
We got issues: The biggest problem facing every NRL team ahead of 2023's big kick-off
Out of those 3 options surely Ryles is the front runner. He is much more experienced than Young and Hornby combined and has worked at the two most successful teams of the NRL era, the Storm and Roosters. I’d give Griffin 6 weeks and if results aren’t looking good, offer Ryles the rest of the year with a multi year deal on the table pending results
Hasler, Flanagan or someone with fresh ideas - who looks right for Dragons’ coaching job when Griffin gets hooked?
You go where there is an opportunity. He is no guarantee for the Storm job and would have to wait until 2025 anyway. If the Dragons offered him the job he would be mad not to take it
Dragons board sacks Griffin as wooden spoon fears grow but club claims season can be salvaged
