Interesting point to note: Channel 9 was voted 3rd best free-to-air coverage of London…

As to the way forward, multi-channel regulations will be different, so the FTA host would be able to show different things on their main and support channels. And they might make more money if they were able to show ads for more than 4 companies.

Will we see the Olympics on our TV screens?

But how many has he let in? Uate’s defensive frailties need to be remedied before he gets close to a rep jersey

Mate, it was 5 hat tricks and 3 penalties saved. Get it right!

Great Western Divide: how the Wanderers have split Sydney

I disagree with the MRP decision. It’s dangerous play for Slater to come down with his leg leading out that far. He may not have meant to make contact, but that doesn’t excuse the danger of his actions.

Billy Slater's unintentional mid-air kick rightly deemed an accident

It’s something that I’ve struggled to comprehend, how people can jump ship just like that. But good luck to them, it just enhances the derby.

Um, he was talking about R. Marsh, not you. Not everything is about you.

Who should replace Howard, Inverarity, and Arthur?

Hold up. You’re putting a lot of different people in the same backet, let alone mixing your eras. Clarke wasn’t even vice-captain when Martyn retired, nor do I think he could have had much to do with Hodge (unluckiest man in cricket, but when a player returns from injury his replacement drops out). As for M. Hussey, the man retires and you want to say he was forced out? I understood the logic behind the selectors not picking a player who has announced his retirement. Australian selectors have a long history of not being romantics in this sort of situation.
Watson, Pattinson, Johnson and Khawaja haven’t been ‘forced out’, but they probably have been made an example of, because judging from what has been said, there has been an ongoing situation of ill-discipline in small parts that has led to this situation. Lyon wasn’t ‘forced out’, he was dropped for one Test (probably didn’t deserve it, but you’d be hard pressed to find a better backer of Lyon than Clarke. He keeps bowling him)

Who should replace Howard, Inverarity, and Arthur?

Why don’t we blame the players? They seem to be the ones not living up to the standards asked of them.

I was at the game. Some observations:
1. The ref was pretty poor in the first half. Missed some blatant penalties aginst the Rebels (especially at the scrum) but most of the offide calls against the Tahs that led to TPN getting 10 in the bin were marginal at best
2. Part of Foley’s problem last night was that he wasn’t getting good ball. McKibbin didn’t have a good passing game overall, but he did make some good runs. Lucas did impress for the 10 minutes he was on, although I mistook him for a ballboy at first.
3. Volavola is the sort of guy who the Tahs could really use at 15 (or 10, maybe even 12). Having Foley, Barnes and Volavola as potential playmakers is a nice prospect.
4. AAC didn’t have much influence last night at 13.
5. I always thought 12 was a position that needed someone who can pass, possibly kick and definitely be able to make something happen. So why is Tom Carter playing there? Every time he gets the ball he runs to the line.
6. Kingston and Mitchell could have caught a cold out there last night. The ball didn’t get out to the edges much.
7. The Tahs played their best rugby running the ball and getting momentum, and that’s what won them the game.

Cheika breaks his Super Rugby duck

That wind was strong and swirling about. I was very impressed with both O’Connor and McKibbin’s goalkicking given the conditions.

I was there and there definitely was 11,000 in the stands.

Warney doesn’t strike me as the type of guy who can actually coach.

Why is Warnie not our spin coach?

Wow, just wow. Didn’t think I’d see a response like this. It’s like a politician’s answer in Question Time: kinda touches the subject at hand, but it’s mostly a chance to spurt vitriol at the opposition.

Anyways, didn’t the NSL have a finals series?

Should the A-League Grand Final be held on Anzac Day?

Dragons and Roosters have been playing on ANZAC Day since 2003. Storm have played the Warriors the last couple of years. I think they’ve had deals for those who go to the Pies-Bombers game to get in cheap.

There are, but this is a final. That’s where I’m coming from..

Ryobi Cup final preview

Then surely you play it on a Friday, or even as a Saturday day game.

Price stated that Fien and Soward had first bite at the cherry. Fien reminds me of Hornby and Soward of Barrett, in that Fien in solid with the occasional spark of brilliance while Soward gets round the park feeling the wieght of carrying the team on his shoulders and feeling that it’s up to him alone.
Should Drinkwater get a go? He probably will this year, it’s a matter of when. Soward and Drinkwater could be a very good combo.

Steve Price must lead Dragons to Drinkwater

Why on earth would they play a final on a Wednesday? Surely you’d want it on a weekend to get the biggest attendance possible.

Part right. Part wrong.

It’s the BCCI which had denied Maxwell accreditation, but the ABC would have dealt with Star, based on what the BCCI wanted for the rights.

Canary yellow? That’s Australian gold, my friend, and don’t you #$!@?n’ forget it!

Uniformal disaster of Olympic proportions

I think that’s the big difference. There’s swearing at a referee, and swearing in the vicinity of a ref. Now if Soward swore at the ref, he deserved the penalty. (I say that as I wear my ’99 St George Illawarra jersey). Sporting officials need to be treated with a level of respect that their position deserves, not necessarily because they make all the right decisions (because the drop-out call was wrong, and that’s what led to the Soward mouth-off).

Remember what happened to Gordon Tallis when he called Harrigan a cheat. Exactly what should have been done. He got sent from the field straight away. Umps and refs shouldn’t have to put up with (a lot of) the crap players give them. Sure, they can disagree with decisions, but there has to be a way and a means of doing so which doesn’t descend to those levels.

Can pink-shirted NRL refs survive a few F-bombs?

Just a small point: NRL doesn’t have a ‘grand final teams’ game on ANZAC Day. Dragons v Roosters started about 10 years ago, and Melbourne v Warriors started a couple of years ago.

Unity and rivalry the best way to honour ANZAC Day

Thought Weyman deserved MOTM, he just keeps running.

Late burst saves Soward's blushes

Penalty was probably right, but the dropout was the wrong call. Once Nightingale came into the tackle it should have been called held.
