Thanks JD. Interesting guy isn’t he.
Rediscovering Geoff Mould, Australia's guru of running rugby
Do you think a coaching book as mentioned by sheek would work today Busted? Different players offering advice on their specialist areas i.e Rodriguez on scrummaging, Campese on running rugby…?
Winners take chances, and that is just what the Wallabies need right now: Is it time to start listening to David Campese?
Hi sheek
Do you think your book idea would work today? I would be keen to give it a go if you are also keen to help? Mainly contacting players would be the first issue, maybe Rodriguez first?
Any thoughts?

Hello David

Exactly gamechanger

Problem is that they are doing terribly well today by themselves are they?

Don’t take my comment about DC coaching seriously, it was just to imagine what he could have done at RWC compared to EJ. There must be some sort of role for him?

A good argument BG. I don’t know if the past players would be honest with themselves if they presented positive comments all the time. Just say hypothetically I come out and say the RWC Final was a “superb example of quality rugby today and they are the best payers ever assembled” I exaggerate but do you get my point? Carlos Spencer has also come out recently to criticise today’s game, what was he meant to say? That everything is perfect?

In some capacity, that is the key.

Shame isn’t it Busted. Generations like to think they can make it on their own.

Sheek, todays “know alls” are doing brilliantly now aren’t they?? Australian cricket could tap into the brain of Ponting, but right now they don’t really need to, the opposite to Australian rugby which needs all the help it can get.
Great idea for the book too.

Yes I did Sarge and thanks for asking. Quite a remarkable effort when you think back a few weeks ago and where they were. If you had said back then they would be in the final…Good to see Cummins performing to his true ability, at last he looked like taking wickets and his captaincy was very intuitive. Congratulations to them. I’m glad they beat India. The key to me was the state of mind of the players when the anthems were being sung, the Aussies looked like they did not have a care in the world, but the Indians looked stressed with the weight of expectation upon them. Play like the result doesn’t really matter and just enjoy it Sgt. Very McCullum like, it would have been remiss of me not to add something like that!
Did over-regulation suck the life out of the Rugby World Cup?
What is holding this team back from being acknowledged as one of the great teams? Yes, I have been a critic of this team in the past, but it is a reflection of the opinions of many cricket fans I speak to. Firstly, I have been a fan of Australian cricket since the 70s but there is something about this current team that is hard to pinpoint. It may be personalities, beliefs, sandpapergate (I believe the punishments were too harsh), Langer debacle, lack of connection, something in common? When they became millionaire players is that when the distancing began? Don’t know. If their likeability was unanimous would their deeds be acknowledged as being great?
Unifying the belts: Australia could become cricket’s first triple champions ... but Proteas can put the choke on them
Three weeks ago I picked NZ and Australia to meet in the final, well that is still alive. I’m picking Australia to beat SA for the very reasons highlighted here. NZ have a tough battle against India but based on previous meetings will be right in there. I did ask if India are the Ireland of the CWC 2023, favourites but enormous pressure on them.

Cheers KFTD. If you are a great player the respect as a coach will last for a little while, then what?
