I tried to complete a sports media degree but I found the classes to be too boring. Aussie Rules is the great game, but I'll gladly watch just about any sport.

Behind – Collingwood

Collingwood continue to dominate this game, but they haven’t made the most of their opportunities. Maynard hooks a set shot from 50, and then on a quick turnover Collingwood miss another chance to goal.

Another sloppy forward entry from the Pies, but they have been killing Freo in the contested ball so far. However, Nick Suban takes his eyes of the ball and gives away a needless free kick on Jarryd Blair about 30m out. Blair pokes at the kick and hits the post.

Treloar streams through half forward but butchers his kick to Cloke on the lead and the ball goes out of bounds. Collingwood’s forward 50 entries have been poor to say the least so far.

Collingwood in the ascendancy here but there haven’t been a great deal of clear cut chances.

The players are moving into their respective positions – should be a fascinating contest, although I’m not expecting the skill quality to be supreme.

Good evening and welcome to the Roar’s coverage of Collingwood vs Fremantle. We’re about 5 minutes from bounce at the MCG. To this point, there have been no late changes for either side.

Hi DC,

A tough choice – Walters could easily have gone in front of Duryea. However, I decided that premiership medals were up there as one of the highest measures of on-field contribution, along with All-Australian selection and B & F success. Duryea was certainly no passenger in last year’s finals series. Then again, kicking 3 goals in both finals, neither was Walters!

They would indeed!

There’s no way that Freo can make the top 8 with only 12 wins this season.

The Roar MVP Votes

3: Michael Barlow – 43 touches and 2 crucial goals when the game was on the line in the 3rd quarter. Absolutely outstanding.
2: Lachie Neale – 38 touches is standard fare for Neale these days. Whilst his disposal wasn’t always effective, he won a truckload of contested footy.
1: Matthew Pavlich – Wound back the clock with 7 marks and 4 goals. Could have easily kicked 6.

Fremantle win by 17 points.

A great contest here today at Domain Stadium. Fremantle dispelled any doubts about tanking in 2016 with their performance today. Michael Barlow was superb today with 43 possessions and 2 crucial goals when the game was on the line in the 3rd quarter. Lachie Neale was also immense with 38 touches, with Pavlich winding back the clock with 7 marks and 4 goals.

Port Adelaide put in a decent performance, but failed to stand up when it really counted. I’ll leave the remainder of the analysis to our AFL experts here at The Roar.

Zac Clarke takes an intercept mark just outside attacking 50 for Fremantle. The ball is kicked long to the top of the square where Pavlich takes a great overhead mark. Sneaks the set shot through from 15m out and Fremantle edge further away. The game is well and truly up for grabs though.

In bad news for Port fans, it is suspected that Dougal Howard has done his ACL. Safe to say we won’t be seeing him on the field again today.
