Five things learned from round two of the NAB Cup

Buddy – Will not win the Brownlow. Doesn’t get as much footy as the midfielders and umpires fail to recognise forwards, backs or midfielders.
Fremantle – This is a real and genuine possibility, if not this year definetly next year, even win the flag next year, is bold but a good chance.
Adelaide – Total agree. They have the players, the coaching staff and a good draw, they win make the 8.
Collingwood – Will not miss the top four and if they do they’ll still manage to verse Hawthorn in the Grand Final.
Fevola – Schoolgirl shouldn’t Fev could have a slight chance. The fact that OMFL clubs are paying him to verse them away, is enough and the fact that New Norfolk from Tasmania (not even the TSL) are paying to play one game for them.

Five fearless predictions for AFL season 2012

Good stuff Hunt. After a strong preseason he’s looking sharp and losing that rugby fat is proving that he can actually make it into the AFL and can play australian football quite well.

Hunt sticks with AFL until end of 2014

AFL pre-season competition needs wake-up call

Tupiza

What a great game!

Same thing neally happened to me at the SCG in the Semi Final match against Geelong 2005, swans down and out, unto “Nick Davis Came to Savis”. My dad was walking down the isle, and i refused to leave.

Sporting moments you wish you hadn't missed

Sydney can and will match it with the big teams Hawthorn, Collingwood and West Coast this year and so will Fremantle. Geelong and Carlton will be there as well. They will be the top 6 and i believe there will be a significant gap between them and the next two teams to sneak in.

AFL 2012: Who will make the eight?

I agree with a lot of what you wrote.

I think it’ll be a Hawthorn – Collingwood Grand Final.
With West Coast finishing a close 3rd.
And with Geelong, Carlton, Sydney and Fremantle fighting for the last spot.
North Melbourne, St. Kilda and Essendon looking to sneak into 8th position.

Id expect Melbourne, Richmond and Adelaide to round out the top 13.
Followed by Brisbane, Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide.
Then Gold Coast to finish ahead of the Giants by 3 or 4 wins.

AFL 2012: Who will make the eight?

“Clive said he’s not spoken to Frank much, but mentioned that Frank rang him recently to ask for $5mil to help fund the GWS club entry”

GWS Giants already exist, why would they need a further $5M from Clive?

Gold Coast United licence revoked as A-League hits new low

Are we seeing the start of a Super League war for Soccer in Australia, it left NRL battered and bruised and NRL still hasn’t recovered?

Gold Coast United licence revoked as A-League hits new low

The mighty blood stained angels are looking good. I remember in 2003, i was 8 years old, we just fell short the the eventual premiers Brisbane, then two years later snuck into 4th spot and battled through to claim the flag, baked it up the next year and fell short, by the smallest of margins.

We’ve got a good mix of experienced players, that can only take us so far and every good team needs the younger players to lift even more and keep knocking on the selectors door, to carry them over the line.

The swans have recently struggled against Hawthorn, Carlton and Geelong (unto late last year) and for the past 5 or 6 years against Collingwood. Apart from them, West Coast finished above the swans and we beat them at Perth, the only team to do so last year. If we can overcome the Hawthorn, Carlton and Collingwood hoodoo or atleast go close, Like last year against collingwood at ANZ Stadium, there’s no reason why we can’t push for top 4.

Ususally around this time of the year, they’ve got the swans odds on for the wooden spoon. Even the year we won the flag, they were telling us we would finish last.

Apart from the obvious Goodes, McVeigh, LRT, O’Keefe and Bolton, the swans have a talented, young group coming through, the mature aged group and the converted superstars from other clubs. Everyone has heard a lot of Swans players, there’s always a continuous change in the line-up and players are tried in different positions. Up here their away from the media and able to go on with their business as usual.

Everitt and Spangher haven’t had enough time to prove themselves. This year they’ll have their chance to prove themselves, Spangher played well in one of the finals last year and Everitt has been dominating the Ressies along with good old Moore.

In my opinion they certainly have a chance and a good one at that, we’re always happy the fly under the radar and hopefully it stays that way.

Can the Sydney Swans win the Premiership?

That’s true. Probably the only thing holding the competition back. Which is pretty major too. That’s why the competition should still be played in rural areas

How to improve the NAB Cup

They showed they have a good full-field press and for a very young and unexperienced side they aren’t afraid to go in hard and they’re pressure was very good in the NAB Cup.

I keep telling myself they’ll win a game, they’ll be competitive and they won’t be any worse than the Gold Coast last year, but deep down, who will they beat? every team at the bottom of the ladder has got better. They will be competiutive but for how long? and they don’t have as many and as good uncontracted players as the gold coast had and the gold coast’s draft had a lot more depth than last years, in saying that this years draft will be phenomenal

Are the Giants to go winless in 2012?

Improvers:
Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Fremantle
Teams that will fall:
Western Bulldogs, Geelong (not by much)

AFL 2012: Who will fall?

I think it’s ok, but don’t think the higher finishing teams would like it.

Time to change the AFL finals system

Interesting that the new formula will take into account finals apperances, injury rate, percentage, etc. I love it, if it’s going to be a better formula and get rid of tanking talk then im 100% for it.

Television ratings for Fox Footy impresses

Definetly won respect and they can only get better and more experienced as the year goes on. They’ll win 2 – 3 games. I was impressed with Giles, Cooyou and no. 2 forget his name.

Giants lose NAB Cup games but win respect

I can agree with you that Greater Western Sydney, Gold Coast and Port Adelaide won’t play finals footy this year. But however i think Brisbane and Richmond, probably won’t but they both have a slight chance. On the other hand i agree that your top 5 will remain the same, but i’d imagine that Fremantle and Sydney have a chance as well. Fremantle have a new coach and gameplan and i think they’ll be top 4 easily in 2013. Sydney finished 5th in 2011 and 2010, there’s no reason why they can’t be top 4 this year, especially with their new inclusions. Adelaide, Essendon, North Melbourne and Melbourne are likely to takeout 8th spot

Which AFL teams won't feature in 2012 finals action

Bulldogs were close to a full team, min us cooney, lake and higgins, collingwood were far from it, so if they had have got belted in both games, it would be along year ahead. Once Scully, WArd, Power, and other younger players get more gametime, there’s no reason why they can’t be competitive. Id expect early on, that they’ll struggle, to run out a a whole game and to be competitive but once they get a structured gameplan and their fitness improves, theres no reason why they can’t win 2 – 3 gaMES.

I was very impressed last night with their pressure and bravery.

GWS show plenty of promise at Blacktown

Not to worry, two new teams, will take their time, especially because they aren’t in traditional football strongholds, but the Tv rights deal, should eventually cover a lot of that loss. The game continues to grow at ALL levels and the national compoetition continues to reach new, exciting heights.

The AFL announces a loss for 2011

i like it. at this point last year i hated the gold coast sun, but i now love it, so it should only take a few years before we are able to know and love the two new songs.

GWS releases its club song

wouldn’t mined night grand final, flip a coin. why not also have grand finals in different places other than the MCG, like the NFL, they have the fixture ready for the season 3 – 4 years prior and the grand final venue.

Calls for night AFL grand final off the mark

Hawthorn, Collingwood Grand finalists.
Fremantle, Adelaide and Brisbane big improvers.
North Melbourne and Richmond pushing for top 8.
Port Adelaide and Gold Coast won’t be as bad as last season.
Greater Western Sydney to be more competitive than what some people suggest, but still win the spoon.

2012 AFL season preview

Fox Footy’s back baby. The best thing to happen to foxtel, its been a long 6 years.

AFL ups the ante in the television battle

Great result for Giants fans. Power is a quality player and natural leader and i believe still has another season on top of this year left. Ward is a young football who can really excel and seems to be a good leader. Davis is a leader and the future of the club.

GWS Giants look to the future with captaincy

i think there definitely has to be video technology intoduced!!!

Video scoring could come to AFL this year
