Australia dealt huge blow with Marsh out of World Cup indefinitely after returning home

NSW cricket in general isnt weak, their Blues team certainly is though. It’s their commitment to their pathways process that NSW cricket have placed their egos on, playing favourites while ignoring grade cricket results that has made their squad rubbish. Dan Solway got the flick after a few bad matches despite averaging 40. Most recent example is Lachlan Hearne who was their most prized pathway player in 2019. Gave him 4 matches then gave him the flick after playing 4 matches at 18/19. He looked good for an 18 year old, but they stuck with the old boys and their prized possessions of Jason Sangha and Jack Edwards despite having received little return for years. Hearne moved to Qld at the start of the season, has made premier cricket double 100’s and 100’s, made his Qld 2nd XI debut this week and made a tidy 84. NSW selectors find pet projects when they are 16 and try to make them stars with nothing to go by but a few net sessions. They still have players coming through in NSW but they keep forcing them out (Hunt, Nivi, Ellis, McAndrew, Manenti, Hearne and the list goes on) to keep their pets and the old boys on the books. They have even run Dylan Hunter, who was a prestigious white ball talent, out all the way to NZ where he is now playing for Canterbury in the Plunkett Shield. NSW desperately needs a review, at the end of last season they claimed they were going to change things up but then they still rolled out the same side. Getting Blake MacDonald in is a good start, been a grade and 2nd XI gun for years now but time will tell if they actually give him a decent amount of time to find his feet.

Sheffield Shield Wrap: Who impressed in Round 3?

Shame Paris is made of dental floss. Would have played more cricket for Aus if he wasn’t injured every month. Such a shame.

Sheffield Shield Wrap: Who impressed in Round 3?

Yes, 43 compared is certainly a significant difference when comparing 2 players with a large amount if FC cricket under their belt. Tougher pitches? Are you really suggesting WACA shield decks are have been tougher over the course of Bancroft’s career than the Gabba decks that Renshaw has played most of his shield cricket on? The WACA has been an absolute highway at various times since Bancroft’s first class career began. Clearly not paying much attention to shield cricket away from the WACA if you have somehow come to that conclusion. Well yeh, Bancroft has a lot a lot more run because he has batted 75 more times in FC cricket, what an irrelevant point. Renshaw’s average is now higher than Bancroft’s, not by much but still higher which is a more relevant stat than total runs.

Sheffield Shield round 2 wrap: Who's making their claims for a test spot this summer?

Kurtis Patterson has made 1200 shield runs at 24 since the start of the 2019/20 sheild season. Who knows what has happened, but he is lucky to still be getting picked for NSW.

Sheffield Shield round 2 wrap: Who's making their claims for a test spot this summer?

Pretty ordinary pitches, hard to gauge just how well Bancroft is going if we only have those performances to go by. His other recent performances in county and for Aus A the other month have been pretty poor.

Sheffield Shield round 2 wrap: Who's making their claims for a test spot this summer?

Failed miserably in county cricket during the off season (for the same team Renshaw averaged 50 for last county season) and then failed again for Aus A against NZ A (the same bowlers Renshaw averaged 83 against early in the year). Renshaw is the go.
Also interesting that Renshaw still gets criticised at times for batting too slowly while Bancroft seems to escape it despite Renshaw having a significantly higher career strike rate than Bancroft.

Sheffield Shield round 2 wrap: Who's making their claims for a test spot this summer?

His variation of late has been mixing in the occasional good ball amongst the plethora of rubbish he has bowled. Love Green but he needs a stint back at WA and away from the national setup for his own good and the national team going forward.

Risky business: Aussies taking two major gambles with World Cup squad after Agar injury puts selectors in a spin

Hiding in the corner under your pile of Warriors merch and JL posters. Anyway, I’ve had my fun stirring you and your parochial overloaded views for for the night, have a good weekend Don.

Why have you ignored the rest of what I said? The facts hurt? Come on Don, you can’t make a claim saying Hardie would out play Marnus over the course of a series and then back it up with absolutely nothing to suggest he could when someone suggests otherwise. Or have you conceded that was a silly thing to say? We all say silly things. I like Hardie and think he is one to look out for in the future but he is no Marnus, the proof is in the pudding.

Do you ever stop sulking, Don? Jeeze you are a miserable bloke.

Risky business: Aussies taking two major gambles with World Cup squad after Agar injury puts selectors in a spin

Ignoring stats in cricket is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Since we are discussing one day cricket I would love to look back on Hardie’s last season of Marsh one day cricket. Are you talking about the Marsh One Day Cup tournament where he batted 5 times and made a top score of 23no averaging 19? Enlighten me on what it was about those performances that make you so insistent that Hardie would out perform Marnus across a series of international cricket? I watch plenty of cricket with an open mind and not one that is entirely blinded by bias and the Western Australia victim complex that you consistently show through your comments, but statistics have and will always be used in cricket to give us a good guide on how well a player is playing or will potentially go on to play at the next level. Ditch the bias and victim complex and people on here might take you more seriously and be open to engaging in a proper conversation.
I’ll even predict your next move that you are going to bring up Hardie’s big bash performances to try and shut me down, shame T20 form matters little in a discussion about 50 over cricket. Hardie has shown absolutely nothing in 50 over cricket so far.

Marshter blaster: Mitchell sizzles in stifling heat as Aussies end pre-World Cup slump with thumping win over India

Yes, picking a player with 2 List A matches under his belt averaging 22 with the bat and 36 with the ball would certainly be left field. And moronic.

Don is a Western Australian with a perpetual victim complex, there is no point trying to have an adult conversation with him when he feels like his precious WA bois have been wronged. He’s a child.

Marnus currently has the same strike rate as Aaron Finch’s career strike rate. The myth that seems to be getting put around everywhere that he is a slug is incredibly wrong. He made 125 off less than a hundred a matter off weeks ago and 72 off 50 odd last night. 50% strike rate? Lol what a load of rubbish

Marshter blaster: Mitchell sizzles in stifling heat as Aussies end pre-World Cup slump with thumping win over India

Based on what Don? Hardie has a List A average of 22 lol. Try to be impartial for once. Marnus and Hardie aren’t even competing for the same spot, and if they were Marnus is evidently way better.

Far too many 1st grade premier teams. They badly need to condense the actual talent in to less teams to make the competition more competitive. There are guys playing 1st grade down there that would barely make 3rd grade in Qld, WA and Victoria. I believe cutting some premier grade teams was one of Hussey’s recommendations in his SACA review but the clubs aren’t keen on it.

No he isn’t, Don.

Hardie is better than Marnus based on what? He averages 24 in List A cricket… 1 single score over 50 in 16 innings. That is a ludicrous take.
