What did you want him to do???? Marsh didn’t have control of his players and umpire had to set them straight. Maybe the players should have asked why Marsh didn’t appeal as was in perfect position at mid off in line with the wickets.

'One of those weird rules': Why run-out was not given despite Windies batter well short of his crease

In the replay you can see Abood looking around for an appeal. He clearly looks to Marsh as Captain who was at mid off and several other fielding positions. I was at the game and no one thought it was out as there was no appeal. What more do you expect?

what no Lloyd Pope. Selectors are crazy..

Aussies drop biggest hint yet on T20 World Cup captaincy as big guns return to squad for New Zealand tour

that would be rewarding some dodgy pitches.

Bazball won’t save Test cricket - but it’s time to give ‘whingeing Poms’ overdue credit for dramatic turnaround

Allrounder XI. Batsmen need to be good enough to bowl in a test (ie Short, Head, Manus and Maxwell) and bowlers be good enough bat to be selected at 7/8.

Have used fairly loose definition of an all rounder but have selected a team on basis that would get a bowl in a test match (ie Manus, Head, Short) and can bat no lower then 8

Can’t rely on India. This is the same county that plays silly games granting visas. England and Australia need to step up and and pay some of the cost when sides like WI, Pakistan and even SA tour. This is one way to keep best players from those countries involved in test cricket.

Touring sides don’t get any financial help from CA. IF CA had even contributed a little as a top up may have meant they could have paid players more and selected a stronger squad.

You want to drop Head?? The same guy that just won us a test match a fortnight ago…..

they do this to heaps of players. Boland, Nesser, Harris have all been kept in the squad as back ups, denying them actually playing time. For tours this is ok, but not required for home series.

Maybe Head to 4 and slide Green to 5. Let Head bat with the slower paced top 3.

Marsh isn’t a fast bowler. He is your classic medium pace allrounder.

Not playing Morris has been a mistake and would have made the XI stronger. But in the end it was the batsmen that had a shocker.

yes, yes yes.bowling attack not enough variety and lacks pace. All great bowlers but now all operating in the 130 range. How good was it watching the WI express pace, targeting the stumps. The two bowlers they need in the squad are Morris and Richardson (when fit)

wow, thats a high bechmark if a player selected in the ICC test team of 2023 isn’t a “test bat” . Did you previously use a different name to post on the Roar?

Its also really frustrating seeing how CA tow a player along as a reserve for the test team. They should have cut Green loose to just play some Aust A games or even BBL and enjoy some time at home and get some cricket played. Doing it to Boland as well and obviously Neser before that. When a home series if any injuries a replacement player can be flown over same day.

Its a really good point. They were 21 valuable runs and the way the WI were bowling it was good chance would have made less if batted conservatively.

Last year really felt for Alzarri Joseph. Basically had to carry the whole attack. This year so great to see Shamar Joseph in the team as this gives the WI two genuine wicket taking quicks. Its the one area they had over the Australian is the ability to bowl express. So good to watch. And now with the 2 quicks it allows Roach to chip in with a couple of wickets. Just need to find a competent spinner and thats a good bowling team.

Huh, that’s why there is nearly always a fine leg fielding as batsmen feast on balls down the leg side.

Aussies face huge call over batting experiment with Smith and Green failing again as Windies turn Test on its head

Maxwell’s effectiveness as a spinner probably means selectors have option to still play 3 quicks. Especially if M Short and Head in the team. Both more then handy T20 slow bowlers.

Is spin the key to Australia’s success in the T20 World Cup?

there is close to zero players in shield demanding selection. Maybe Hardie if has a good back end of shield season. So yes, can keep playing him for now. But only if keeps developing, no point selecting if continually out of form and destroying his confidence.

Travis should Head up the order until Green proves he’s four-midable enough to earn important spot

He is good enough. When he gets a run at shield clearly one of the few that actually demands to be selected on weight of runs.

Nope. Having Green deny strike to Head and Marsh could be a bigger issue going forward for their games. If Green is good enough won’t matter if batting 4,5 or 6.

Not sure about the love for day/night. Members are split and that was an excellent crowd for mid week versus weak opposition. I’d be happier if d/n only every second year. Day tests still best experience at the oval.

Test Mortem: Adelaide shafted by schedule but pitch not up to scratch, Smith-Green jury still out, SOS to ICC for Windies

cheers for the interesting read.

Plenty of Test cricket's records look safe, but which ones can still be broken?
