The ARU has to show decisive leadership at this time and quickly. Rugby is losing ground to the other pro-sports at a very rapid rate. It won’t be an easy task to regain momentum and when some of the best rugby players move to the other codes it will be an even bigger task for the game’s administrators.
The Wallaby brand is tarnished and there is no sign it will improve this season.
Next thing we will see is ARU sponsors not renewing. Qantas will be the first given their parlous profit performance.
So, the message is, “Mr O’Neil and your Board, now is the time to show you can get Australian rugby strong again”.
Even Kiwi fans are pleading for change
