The same model does not work for everyone. Ireland essentially has the NZ model, which works well but wouldn’t work in SA. There’s private investment into the unions and due to the exchange rate, our players play overseas regardless.

Wales has administrative and money issues—the same with England.

France also has private ownership of their clubs, so there is no way the FFR can dictate what they should do.

In my view, at the minute, it could only work for Australia, NZ, and Wales. Not sure of Scotland’s model, I think they have a similar model to IRE & NZ but they only have 2 clubs.

'I don't want to see it die' - Silence, centralisation and Mack Hansen: Why exiled coach wants to help Aussie rugby

A lot of it is to do with front row heights too. Ox & Nyakane are not as tall as Kitschoff and Malherbe.
They are possibly more difficult to scrum against because of that as shown in the Scotland game as Scotland’s trick of going low against the starters didn’t work anymore.
Huge loss but people foeget Mbonambi probably atarted more games than Marx from 2019 to 2022.
It’s only this year they started Marx more.

COMPLETE RWC teams week 3: Eddie makes three changes, Wales skipper misses out, Farrell back for England

At home. Wallabies were cozy at home.

The horror five minutes that put Wallabies' World Cup on life support as Eddie's huge 10 call falls flat

Just saw the result. I put Australia by 17. Having a good chuckle at my folly.

The horror five minutes that put Wallabies' World Cup on life support as Eddie's huge 10 call falls flat

It’s just spin. The real reason is to give them all game time. We have no other 10 so what can you do.

COMPLETE RWC teams week 2: Wallabies make three changes as Fiji name giant centre, Hansen back for Irish

Think Fiji may be mentally shot after last week and could be in for a tough day at the office.

RWC top 10 Power Rankings week 1: Ford, and improved defence, fires England, Boks show impressive variety

I like that the Boks also used coloured lights to inform the colour blind that we would be kicking.

The defence never rests: Too strong up front, too fast out back, Springboks march on with a Marseille mugging

Mostert is underrated. RG has always been more a part of the bomb squad than anything else. The 5 jersey has mostly been contested between Mostert and Lood. Lood is unavailable so Mostert it is.

They’ve been experimenting with Mostert at blindside but for me he’s not that effective there.

World Cup TMO system in disarray as Bok escapes punishment and Chilean just cops yellow a day after Curry sees red

The crowd annoyed me. Even when Will Jordan got back from his yellow they booed at that.

Allez, Allez! All Blacks suffer first RWC pool loss as France make huge statement, Fozzie remains upbeat

I highly doubt South Africa will use a 7-1 split again. 6-2 is already a risk, but mostly manageable. Just a few weeks ago we lost Grant Williams to injury in the first few seconds of the game.

The pool is a tough one.

After England beat NZ in 2019 I recall Gatland saying they would be too spent to win the final. That England side had more rest in them because if you recall, they didn’t end up playing France in their final pool game due to Typhoon Hagibis. Yet, they still failed at the final hurdle.

How much more so then, for teams in pool B where the only guaranteed victory with a second-string side is Romania? You can’t let your guard down against Tonga. Then it’s France or NZ.

That is why Rasnaber have changed their team up almost every game for the last two years to build some depth. The depth is there but not necessarily the fluidity in combinations. It may or may not have been slightly better if a season was not lost to Covid.

It reminds me a bit of NZ in 2007 with their rotation policy. Was it not for a freak incident against France they may have won it, or maybe not.

The management has repeatedly stated that to even stand a chance to win this trophy this time around will take a complete squad effort. Not the kind where you have the luxury of handing out starting berths in 2-3 pool games, but a genuine squad effort where every member could be called upon at any given time and has to perform optimally.

SPIRO ZAVOS: The best team in the tournament, not necessarily the best team, will win the 2023 RWC

The Xhosa commentators sometimes refer to Mostert as 440 (teferring to a 440ml can as opposed to the std 330ml).

Also half-pint for Faf.

Packs Power Rankings: Boks' 'bomb squad' edges France, injured Wallaby who Eddie can't replace

The Bok pack is the gold in the green and gold.

Yes, we also call ourselves the green and gold.

Packs Power Rankings: Boks' 'bomb squad' edges France, injured Wallaby who Eddie can't replace

People forget that the Bok forwards actually play less sinve they are replaced shortly after half time.

A far from golden generation of forwards has left the All Blacks badly exposed

You mean Esterhuizen.

A far from golden generation of forwards has left the All Blacks badly exposed

That didn’t take long. Similar things were said post RWC 2019.

'Seriously': Ex-Scotland coach calls on World Rugby to 'act' on Springboks after 'abusing bench' against All Blacks

Thus far, I think only SA has scored maul tries v Jason Ryan’s packs. That includes one in our loss at Mt Smart.

'It stings, it hurts ... we got exposed': All Blacks alarm bells ringing after Springboks dish out worst EVER defeat

The All Blacks’ top selection has not played for a few weeks now. NZ have not had warmups and their last match against Australia was a largely changed team.

France is then 2 weeks away from this weekend’s game. Last thing they want is to send their players in cold.

RWC News: ABs name strong team for Boks clash, Vunipola banned, journo rings alarm bells over key Wallabies

My take is that if the women’s game can pay for the professionalism they want then sure. If it means taking money from others then no.

Bill Burr has a good comedy piece on this that makes sense and needs to be said.

'It has been impossible': When it comes to his 'secondary' job Eddie Everywhere has been more like the invisible man

Etzebeth has 110 tests under his belt and I think only 2 yellow cards to show for it.

Not as ill-disciplined as some like to think.

Thrown together Australia A side beaten by Tonga as Tupou completes comeback, mixed day for RWC hopefuls

Eben has decided to lead the team after all despite his father passing away on Tuesday.

Come on Boks.

Kiwi View: Let’s not get ahead of ourselves - Foster gamble could be exposed by smart Boks ploy

He will be in his prime for RWC 2027 on home soil. Nurture him from the bench and give him starts here and there from EOYT or next year.

He could have around 50 caps by then, injury permitting.

'Quick 50': Why Eddie opted to stick with Quade over young gun Gordon for crunch Wallabies Test

SA ascendancy up front for 60 mins then All Blacks bring some swagger, coupled with some forward play. Then you win. Been the same forever.

Boks need to adapt a bit. Hoping they do.

Above all, hoping it’s epic. Epic could be 10-9 or 24 – 17.

Eztebeth leads Boks, Willemse at 10 but Wallaby destroyer misses out altogether for All Blacks clash

No one knows except his docs and the Boks. Talks of warmup games prior to RWC.

Eztebeth leads Boks, Willemse at 10 but Wallaby destroyer misses out altogether for All Blacks clash

Boks will give it their best I am sure. The issue with “depth” is you are one injury away from testing it.

10

There we are lacking.

Eztebeth leads Boks, Willemse at 10 but Wallaby destroyer misses out altogether for All Blacks clash

Indeed. We are rough on ourselves as well. Colleague of mine’s dad at the time they repitched Newlands kept 1m^2 and planted it in his garden.

Truly rugby mad country.
