I can see no valid reason why the Captain can’t explain the grounds for his and his players testimony to the Board’s representative

Yup – agreed. But stop there – at the Board’s representative. That rep is their employer. We do not need players then providing the detail beyond that. It is unprofessional. And it feeds the crap we now have in front of us.

Personally – I logged on to the Roar to read up on what conditions our squad can expect in Pakistan. Not this BS.

Cheers

'Stand there and tell us the reasons': Clarke becomes latest retired player to tell Cummins how to behave

+1 @JGK. Just wish it was Steve Smith coming on as the replacement. That would have been some sweet icing!!

BTW – hats off to the new Haydos. Mr Kerr – well played!

'Absolute dog move' or 'very smart'? Cricket world reacts to Sixers' controversial final-over ploy

Hey BFB. In short – yes, yes, yes. Totally agree. I cited Euro examples, cos I can only think of one decent NZ example – Pete Samu. You watch him for 5min and you can tell he played NZ provincial rugby in his running lines, height into and at rucks, tailing and chasing. He oozes Crusaders. If I am Fraser McReight, I would be both frustrated and honoured to be tapping into the experience of Hooper, McMahon and Samu. Cheers, AV

Will Skelton reveals 2020 snub, and what he missed most in Wallabies wilderness

Nah, respectfully disagree @ Shane.

My observation is that every Australian lock who spends time in Europe and returns to Aus comes back a much better player. Far stronger in tight (rucks and mauls), and way superior in scrums. Their game management improves.
They learn the tight 5 craft. When interviewed, they repeatedly talk about how they trained and trained that craft in Europe. These locks get turned into rough and tumble big boys. A great example, for mine, is Luke Jones. He returned to Aus a far more rounded and strong player.

I would actually like to see it a ‘requirement’ of sorts, or seen as a positive, for our locks to go abroad and get that exposure and develop their true tight 5 skills. It’s simply not part of the Aus Rugby DNA, so we need them to get it from somewhere!

Also – don’t forget both Rodda and Philip had Europe stints in 2020 and early 2021. Just sayin.

Cheers

Will Skelton reveals 2020 snub, and what he missed most in Wallabies wilderness

I think the Argies are already in this squad…Montoya on bench.

Time to 'do a Lions' and pick a Southern Hemisphere All Stars to bring four nations together

Yeah. To use your analogy – the student teacher has gone back to class, has more to learn 😂

'We're trying to bring them home': Everything Rennie said on Euro star strategy, brutal youth cull and Kurtley call

+1

'We're trying to bring them home': Everything Rennie said on Euro star strategy, brutal youth cull and Kurtley call

Breath of fresh air. He is clearly a professional. So so good.

'We're trying to bring them home': Everything Rennie said on Euro star strategy, brutal youth cull and Kurtley call

Yep, fair call. Comment still applies though – define our style, define the players to meet that style, then work collegiately to get there.

How the Wallabies are building cohesion towards 2023

Thanks @ Chuck – really enjoyed!

Unexpected delights: Sydney Swans season review

I concur with your observations. On the assumption he is squeezed at some point lets celebrate the #Rowbotts in the meantime. His 2020 was outstanding and, putting your points another way, he is the perfect team player that fills all roles asked of him. Players that do that in the Swans system always go exceptionally well in their careers.

Unexpected delights: Sydney Swans season review

This is where I am hoping the ‘RA centralisation model’ will come to the fore. Aus needs a genuine backup to the “Kerevi 12 Prototype”. That is clear. Instructions given to the states to make it happen as a priority. One or two may prioritise and nurture a potential/hopeful, one or two may go looking in league. etc etc.

Handle @LT, real name “Rob Simmons”?

TEAM CONFIRMED: McMahon on bench, Holmes becomes oldest Wallaby in pro era, Tate rested

Gotta earn the right first. Always.

A bullet pass from a lock, and other wonders from the Wallabies’ Brisbane win

The ultimate compliment!

BTW….chuck into youtube this search “wheelchair crowd surf” to catch one of his self-proclaimed ‘best ever’ moments 😂

Rugby Championship turnaround: What a difference a Quade makes

Check out his autobiography. He’s a music nutter. So much time for him – the barriers he is decimating with his disability advocacy are simply brilliant…and he does it with his personal style leading all the way. Love those ANZ ad’s too!

Rugby Championship turnaround: What a difference a Quade makes

Totally agree, Olly. Toomua is class, and a mature head. He alone has more test caps than the rest of that starting backline combined! He may not have the razzle dazzle, but he provides that stability and composure. Critical in Bledisloe.

WILL GENIA: We have to back ourselves when the game is still there to be won

True. But I’m not convinced this team has that level of catch and pass skill. Not for a long while, and it’s so frustrating. Core skills of a back.

WILL GENIA: We have to back ourselves when the game is still there to be won

Have to agree K2K. It astounds me. Myeh – to our benefit. Hope to catch you at the next SCG K2K…I’ll be at the Noble end posts, wearing red & white 😛

Who was your club's underrated performer in Round 18?

IMO, he also has a responsibility to think about how his followers (? i.e. South African rugby supporters) will then think they could/should behave in the future. See our Director of Rugby post online and tee off….mmmm, heck we should do that too!

Consequences and repercussions.

And if I was a professional ref, and the one appointed to the next Test in this series, I would be extra concerned about what’s in store for me….

Erasmus's extraordinary 62 minute video rant at Aussie ref Nic Berry stuns World Rugby

Yeah agree on George. But please….ssshhhh, he never gets mentioned and that is such a bonus for us. Focus has gone to the younger guns. Fox played his best game for us too – full of confidence. Bell also, needed. And Rowbottom coming back into 2020 form. But overall, ssshhhh. 😛

Who was your club's underrated performer in Round 18?

so true. so sad. And Logan, Mills with him. sigh

The best player from last year's draft is not who you'd think

Fair point by James, and great response Dem.

Awesome article, too. As a Sydney supporter, am fist pumping all the way around my locked-down house!

The best player from last year's draft is not who you'd think

Totally agree. We don’t kick them well, we certainly don’t defend them well, and the NZ SR teams and then the AB’s love it….the masters of the counter!

Side note – I love rugby and AFL. This country is missing out big time in terms of making better use of AFL kicking coaches. It is infuriating.

Coach’s Corner Issue 20: Why Jake got the nod over Tate

He is high quality, and has wonderful footwork. The kind of player that the Kiwis respect – which says everything really. Good stuff Aus Rugby!
