He is high quality, and has wonderful footwork. The kind of player that the Kiwis respect – which says everything really. Good stuff Aus Rugby!
Rugby Australia and Brumbies to get two more years of the Wright stuff
Hey. So I get the position that Hooper walks straight back into the Wallabies. No issues there.
But a captain he is not.
Why does the coach believe he is a good captain when there is a mountain of evidence against this, and when there are genuine alternative options – yes, James O’Connor. Or Matt Toomua.

FARCK ME. I still rave on about that kick, and we didn’t use it again and again. and again. Talk about TCUP……sheesh!
Coach's Corner Issue 13: A Trans-Tasman kick in the pants?
oooh yeah. love to see that! Wilson, to me, could be both a grifting 6 and a cranky 8. and would do it for his mates and the jersey. just what we need!
Rob Simmons is not lazy
Yeah – this makes a lot of sense. Thanks for sharing!
And, perhaps, in this context we are discussing it is heightened?
Context (as I define it) is – Aus Rugby does not have enough forwards who have offensive ability in the area/s of: a) bending the line or b) leg drive at contact – to get momentum through either pushing defensive lines back or quickly recycling the ball in a ruck.
Simmons is, IMO, poor relatively speaking when compared to other international locks, at both of these. This IS the 10% I look for most games because our piggies lack it generally and we have been losing games for some years. Hanigan lacks it. Skelton DID NOT lack it (for comparison purposes).
It’s a bit like recruitment in our day jobs – we all want the perfect candidate, but we have to compromise on some capabilities in some way.

Yeah, me too re Wilson. Loved it. Made it his personal mission. We need much more of that.
The Wrap: Player welfare no concern as All Blacks take it up a notch in Auckland
Totally agree. We don’t kick them well, we certainly don’t defend them well, and the NZ SR teams and then the AB’s love it….the masters of the counter!
Side note – I love rugby and AFL. This country is missing out big time in terms of making better use of AFL kicking coaches. It is infuriating.
