He lights up the Dragons for sure and, it’s not like they are dripping with flair.

My guess is simply that Hook is an old school, bash ’em up, defence wins matches kind of coach, and unfortunately, Dufty couldn’t tackle a good dinner… he might get him back after a stint at the Broncos, when he’s 34/35 years old…

Matt Dufty has proven the Dragons' decision making is madness

Good points TB. Do you know the percentages of actual tackles made? My hunch is that there are less low tackles made and this might impact the stats?
I do fear that the game will dramatically change due to adaptations made to protect the head… its inevitable but worrisome. Ultimately, playing professional rugby league is, in and of itself, reckless, dangerous, and not for the faint hearted. It’s part of why we all love the spectacle… but I am sickened when I see a Pap, or a Teddy, lying prone on the deck, like any right minded person is…

Phil Gould urges NRL fans to "read the research" on concussion. So I did...

Totally dumped! Terrible decision…

Were the Bulldogs dudded by this controversial captain's challenge?

100% agree.

Jarryd Hayne may belong in prison, but removing him from the NRL’s record books solves nothing

Dare I say, the voice of reason…

Gus delivers some strong words on NRL suspensions and HIA rules

So a lot of people on here are now suggesting that after a star player has been collected across the chops, regardless of injury, he must be swapped out? Or if he stays down for a couple of seconds, could be anything, winded? Then he is swapped out? We are then punishing the victim again here.

The NRL should have avoided this HIA Storm

Quelle surprise!
Ridiculous…

UPDATE: NRL officially confirms Suaalii exception

I guess some changes will be an improvement and some will be fizzers… we will wait and see but the two point field goal worries me… we have had many classic last minute tries over the years from all over the park that go straight to the highlights reel .. far more exciting than a drop goal attempt, and more likely to present a result to instead of GP.
I don’t like the constant changes. What next? Trampolines on the ten metre lines so you can bounce over the defensive line?

Two-point field goal included in new NRL rules

I have gone right off Kent recently. The vendetta is just extraordinary… and his little shiny headed mate was absolutely disgraceful again today having a crack at the Storm… these guys think that they need to make the news instead of reporting it. Parasites.

Paul Kent slams Gerard Sutton for not sin-binning Cameron Smith for ref bake

I love the ABC commentary. Just doesn’t sync… its miles better!

"I'm always honest", says Phil Gould who reckons his NRL grand final call wasn't biased

Yawn… …

The Storm's NRL stranglehold grows stronger, but Panthers are 2021 favourites

They all have backgrounds and we all know what they are… Slater is a Storm legend and still works for them, Sterlo tries to be balanced about the Eels, Joey loves the Knights, Gall bleeds Shark blood, Freddy is really one eyed and frustrating with the Chooks… but they all TRY to keep it under control… Gus is different though… he has no self awareness, or just thinks he is bigger than the game… And he’s getting worse. Just glad he was so bad last night that its getting aired…
The comments from so many sporting identities from other codes and games really says it all…

Four talking points from the NRL grand final

Agreed

NRL grand final player ratings: Melbourne Storm

NAS doesn’t get the credit he is due. He is a force of nature, enormous, fast, tough and talented with ball in hand. Wouldn’t swap him for any other forward, and he’s only going to get better…

Papenhuyzen wins Clive Churchill medal

Its become intolerable… the call on ABC radio is brilliant but it just doesn’t sync with the images…

Papenhuyzen wins Clive Churchill medal

He doesn’t get paid to be on the box in the box. He works every waking hour all year to succeed and feels every tackle… I love it. Great bloke. You won’t see me on Gogglebox for a similar reason. Sport is passion…

Four talking points from the NRL grand final

Haha… I heard that too… he embarrassed himself… peanut…

Four talking points from the NRL grand final

Terrible… we just put up with it week in and week out but new potential fans just switch off. That’s important in new markets.

Four talking points from the NRL grand final

Love him or hate him I reckon Gus did well for the Panthers youth system. BUT, unless something is done to reward teams that develop players in the salary cap, you will always have the hyenas and jackals and vultures hanging around the lions’ kills… knocks me sick at times to see developed players getting poached following a teams success and it rewards failure…

The NRL needs a Panthers grand final win, but Cam Smith will get his fairytale

Agreed and cannot understand it. Most other sports cherish their legends. Can’t help but think it is the parochial Sydney thing again. Listened to triple M on the app for three hours this week. First time. Was amazed, and not in a good way…

'An insult to the game': Cameron Smith GOAT claim blasted by NRL journo

Spot on. What a peanut…

'An insult to the game': Cameron Smith GOAT claim blasted by NRL journo

Boring…

Are the Storm up to their old dirty tricks again?

It’s all about the C word for me… Consistency. Always going to be errors but that seemed soft to me and decided the game. Argument always goes something like this… If that was a binning, how did Croker stay on the field last week?
I can’t think of another sport so reliant on refs decisions to decide games. It must be a result of the rules and the interpretations… Cricket, football, AFL, golf, basketball, union, netball, bog snorkelling… none of them have controversy of NRL…
Klein summed it up for me last week saying they had to decide which infringements to call because there are multiples each set… ????

Did this controversial sin-binning cost Manly their season?

I’ve been shouting at the telly for years about Hargreaves leading with the forearm. Big Nelson is doing it too but it is through the game Jimmmy. I think you notice it with Nelson because he is bigger and faster than others. I’m a big lad. As a kid our coach said to me ‘lift your knees big lad when they tackle you… Like Graeme West (Wigan Captain…) Can’t do that now but I see it creeping back in with some players…
Right or wrong, we just need consistency… But, every collision is unique…?
Sticking your fingers in someone’s eyes, is ten times worse than a chicken wing, a bumper, a leg pull… All those give you a benefit in the moment, in the contest, are millisecond decisions, and can be an accident. People prepared to mess with the eyes of someone else are mixed up…
And, I think the end of the biff has made it more crucial that the game jumps on this stuff

Hysteria meets inconsistency: Hudson Young thrown to the wolves

Spot on Matt. Head and shoulders better than any other best 17… Awesome team, great coach.

Storm fan alert though… Would love the comp to properly reward clubs that develop players with cap benefits. I don’t think anyone in the game prefers to see Cronk at Roosters more than Gallen at Sharks… and he could have gone elsewhere on better cash .. Smith too (haha wait for salary cap comments)

That said, Roosters have developed a ton of young talent into superstars, just like Storm has. Just well run clubs and that sets them both up for a crack at success.

The Roosters' best 17 is the best 17 in the comp
