I have been calling for sometime that no one wears the same colour as the ball.
If needed have 3 ball colours, white, yellow and green. Based on team uniforms nothing can be the same colour as the ball including boots, headgear, strapping, shorts, socks etc. For me that would assist hugely in ensuring higher definition of the BALL which is vital to determining ALL the above.

Don’t freak out, it’s only one game: NRL Round 1 talking points

That’s a good read, well done.

The 'False 6', return of the centre and disher dominance: NRL's big tactical trends of 2022

Mine is group based interchangeable table. For me, the competition has definite segregations with the teams broken down into 5 groups. Barring noted issues the teams should finish on the table in the groups but the order in the group is the variable.

Group 1

Eels – should be consistently a very good team, if not the best team, all year
Roosters – will be better than 2021
Panthers – will not be as good as 2021 but will remain very consistent and Nathan Cleary a MUST play
Storm – Review Storm history

Parramatta to be the most consistent team in the comp, however the issue will be that against the Top 4 and perhaps even the Top 7, if BOTH teams are full strength and play to their peak, then Parra’s peak will leave them short. If any of these teams are not in the Top 4 it will be considered as a massive ‘fail’

Group 2

Sharks – the big improvers of the year – expectation is high, and have the team that could actually either OVER or UNDER deliver, much depends on Nicho
Rabbits – Ilias for Reynolds but not quite as good 2021
Sea Eagles – If Turbo lifts the team (not just his own performance) could be the team that pushes Storm or Panthers out of the 4

These teams MUST make the 8, although none of the coaches are in any danger

Group 3

Dragons – before a ball kicked in anger look to be a highly effective team – will have some big highs but also likely some terrible lows
Broncos – Reynolds will solve some issues and they will win at least 10 games
Raiders – Fogarty is a huge loss

Group 3 should provide the last of the Top 8 but cannot match it for 2 or more wins in the finals with the top echelon

Group 4

Bulldogs – Paper team says they will win at least 7 games – have Cows, Tigers, Knights twice… that should be 6!!
Titans – Fogarty is a huge loss
Knights – Pearce (like him or not) is a great 1st Grade player and will be the difference between making the 8 and being close to the spoon group. If it happens Milford may help!

Could have a great year and surprise the teams in the group above but consistency will be a massive issue for this lot

Group 5

Warriors – If everything fires could fight to be in the group above…. But that appears the ceiling
Tigers – Their best efforts should see them avoid the spoon, cannot do much better…
Cowboys – Horrible thought but Payten first to go, the Cows appear to have little to offer

Cannot see these teams even pushing to be in the group above. Warriors probably unlucky to be in the group as their best will be very good, but it won’t appear often enough and will likely only appear against the very best sides and not be enough to get the right result.

Predicting the NRL ladder in 2022: Who’ll come out on top?

Tony I knew you were aged but “the rise of the tea bag”…. invented in 1908 and very very popular since 1950’s the rise was in the 30’s and 40’s. You must be older than I thought..

My 2022 NRL ladder prediction: Pain for Tigers and Dogs

The author is really starting to lift the rugby league vocabulary…. insouciantly. I am not ashamed to say I had to look it up!!!!!!!!!

NRL Trials: 'What is he thinking?' Brandy fumes as Pangai loses plot in loss to Sharks

Early days but….

Ilias did a lot more than just kick, good link, great cover in defence, good link and couple of slick passes. Always a gamble but can see why Bunnies did not want Reynolds long term.

Moses Suli looks super fit, keen and ready to use his body. Great buy for Saints.

St George without getting carried should be should be competitive with the teams 7-13th

Parra… go off, go hard, buy your GF tickets but they wont be there.

NRL Trials: Parramatta are the new Premiers, the razzle-dazzle Dragons and the Tyson Gamble gamble

And if the ref stopped telling them and just penalised the royal “we” would all be in uproar!!

Four simple NRL fan requests for season 2022

Most of the young guys have had little or no footy since COVID. They would be busting to Hulk Smash something!!

‘Very disappointing’: Alexander fuming after Dolphins poach Panthers young gun

Try of the year????? Who writes these ridiculous headlines.

WATCH: Tahs winger wastes epic try of the year contender on pre-season trial game

I wasn’t happy he left either but very happy we did not pay Warriors money to keep him. JWH was ad different story all those years ago…. the club simply did not see his value at the time. Can’t get every recruitment decision right. I suppose in league if you get recruitment / retention right about 70-80% or more, then you are doing very well. Most clubs are likely to be less than 50%!!

Million Dollar Man: Addin Fonua-Blake took the green but can he stop seeing red?

They did that and everyone complained as too many penalties…

NRL needs to tread carefully with fans about ongoing rule changes

Doesn’t quite fit but, if we are talking alliterations… Fuifui Moimoi

Big boppers and brilliant backs: Rugby league’s alliterative XIII

Good write up and the entire thing has been blown well out of proportion. He never said anything with disrespect about any of the clubs and just cause you work at Facebook doesn’t mean you cannot be impressed with Google!!!

Refreshing in its candour, Smith's podcast appearance was so much more than 61 'f-bombs'

A littel dyslexia (no blame – you write a lot of stuff!!!!!!!) just checked his profile and it says 189cms. Still tall, thats 6’2′ in the old, but it aint Shaun Lane or Klemmer.

The long and the short of it in our lanky v stubby 13s

There is no way Tyson Gamble is 198cm!!!! Klemmer and Shaun Lane who you have at the same height, stand out like the proverbial… he doesn’t.

The long and the short of it in our lanky v stubby 13s

Good service from dummy half is vital and vastly under rated. As a Manly fan closely watched how much Lachlan Croker was missed, and his service is satisfactory not brilliant.

I get very frustrated watching games and the firts receiver is ctaching the ball at knees, head, behind him etc… Those minor moments make a massive difference to go forward.

Mannah adamant Eels can push for premiership and says Paulo, Mahoney 'want to stay'

I am Manly through and through and league moron since mid 70’s so di not see many of the players in the squad. But Brett Kenny for mine is the most gifted player ever.

It is always hard but if the Dolphins could pick any 3 foundation players from the last 40 years – for me it would be Cameron Smith, Wayne Pearce and Brett Kenny.

The greatest grand finalists of the last 70 years

You cannot put a Turbo on a Dolphin!!!!! 😛

NRL Transfers: Storm sign Olympic Games silver medallist, Ikuvalu leaves Roosters

I am no Fergo fan but credit where it is due, you do not get to play 249 first grade games if you are average. Well done and good luck.

'One of my goals is to play for Wallabies': NRL's Blake Ferguson set to join Cheika in Japanese rugby

I think Ben Kennedy made Manly Team after 40 games….

The Sydney Roosters' greatest NRL team

Can’t believe you left out the 140kg version of Robert Lui

Who should make the Australasian Super League team of the year?

Wasn’t blaming the ref – I too think they did the job.

They come from the land down under: Picking an expats team from Super League

I watch the occasional SL game throughout the year and locked into the finals of course. The GF seemed to be a different game to the entire season…. 10 metres was policed however the defensive team seemed to move too quickly as the ball was played providing no side any time to attack.

Ref did penalise for this a few times but is was a constant reocurrence and heavily impacted the game. It has been happening in NRL as well with defenders on the firts receiver as he catched the ball. Should take longer to run approx 12 – 13 metres than is does to pick up and pass the ball….

The ref currently calls WHEN players can break from the scrum, calls particular players when they are offside, perhaps (I say this with some displeasure) that the ref actually calls when the defensive line is permitted to move……

They come from the land down under: Picking an expats team from Super League

Nice read. Same answer to the questions in letters M & T – I hope so!!!!!

Also the bunker – I think it needs to stay, it simply needs to be used better and with the Rugby Leagues most hated word, consistency!!

The A to Z of the NRL's 2021 season

Nope, cant go with that. No I don’t like Anasta but being a Fox watcher and forced to listen to Gus and Joey for a few games…. they are simply bad.
