Thanks Geoff, a good read from a level head. I do wonder if Nathan Grey’s structures have made some usually decent defenders look diabolical. The All Blacks were on fire but the defense under Grey at all levels has been woeful for a couple of years.

Attack in 7s isnt particularly structured so he doesn’t look horrible in that respect. He does however seem completely lost in defense. For a bloke only on for a few minutes each game he wasn’t showing much urgency around the park. Probably a mixture of not knowing where to be and having very little stamina after the NFL stint, lungs must been burning hard.

Nicholas I think Goro did pretty well. In a team with people barely executing the fundamental competencies of the game, someone getting the basics right is refreshing.

I think it’s more the position than the player Digger. Our 7’s with George Smith and Pocock the last decade have been very good at the breakdown, in a lot of ways negating the need for 1-15 to be proficient in turnovers/disruption. With hooper’s weakness being our 7’s traditional strength it leaves us exposed because very few others in the team have those breakdown skills. If he was an IC I’m pretty sure he would be hailed as the messiah by more than just NSWelshman.
