Keary been excellent. Forgot to give him an honourable mention. Unfortunately for him though Walker is leagues ahead of the next five-eighth.
Way-too-early Dally M team of the year predictions
You said it yourself, Wayne Bennett is why i left him out. I can’t see a realistic possibility of him playing first grade this year, while I can for the other blokes. Bennett has said publicly that GI is his preferred fullback, and then Johnston if GI declines the role. Also Doueihi looked good last season as a fill-in.
Yes he may have made the PM’s XIII, but remember Sione Mata’utia also played for the Kangaroos once. That on it’s own counts for little. His QLD cup stats are very pedestrian; only 100 metres a game out of the back for instance. Drinkwater’s QLD Cup performances last season blow Allan out of the water, playing the same position.

By what metric? Crichton wins easily by any statistic you want whether it be metres, tackle busts, offloads etc. Also saying he is “nowhere near” shows you have no idea what you’re talking about. He is an Origin rep, played enough minutes (over 50 off the bench iirc) and will be there next season as well.

Can you see the Lakers finishing top 2 in the west though? I can’t at this stage. The voters’ precedent is set, Westbrook had to average a triple double to break it. 29 of the last 30 MVPs on a top 2 record. 2006 Kobe and 2015 Anthony Davis willed their teams to the playoffs but it wasn’t enough. LaVine has definitely improved; Before he tore his ACL in minnesota he was actually averaging more minutes (37.2) than he is now, with much less output. His usage and shots are up for sure, being on a bad team, but i think his confidence to take on this workload is an improvement in itself.
Way-too-early NBA award predictions
Don’t agree with the Harden comment. They won 65 games. The most he had won in previous years was 56.
The NBA is ready for a new king, and the Greek Freak will take the throne
Tell that to the Players’ association
There should be no debate: Ben Simmons is the Rookie of the Year
Barba has not shown any sort of form in the last couple of years to suggest that he deserves the Fullback jersey right off the bat. Holmes would be my pick as he was always a fullback coming up through juniors, but Bird has recently re-signed and i suspect he wants a position in the spine to be satisfied. Not to say Bird is a terrible choice, but one thing i’m certain on is that Ben Barba should be on the outer. The Ben Barba that won a Dally M is long gone. He is the Derrick Rose of the NRL right now.
Jack Bird set to wear Cronulla No.1 jumper
You missed the point. I’m not arguing she is an all time great player. It’s the “run” (or the “story” if you like) that is all-time great because of her limited clay court background (if you read the article).
