With an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, England are after a rare whitewash of Australia on home soil when they lock horns in Canberra for the third and final T20I. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:10pm (AEDT).

England have played the better cricket for longer patches than Australia. Both teams have had periods of dominance. However, England have been able to wrestle back momentum quicker than the Aussies.

Both sides have their eyes set firmly on the World Cup starting next week. England look to have the more settled line up. England for one have their two opening batters sorted in captain Jos Buttler and Alex Hales. The opening pair were destructive in Perth, compiling a 132-run partnership.

Australia, on the other hand, aren’t as sure on their openers. Captain Aaron Finch is in desperate need of runs at the top of the order.

Australia could open with Marcus Stoinis, who has had experience in that position with the Melbourne Stars. Finch played in the middle order where he made 58 against West Indies. Glenn Maxwell has also struggled for runs of late, he would want a score here to cement his spot in the World Cup team.

Sam Curran has bowled very well in both games, performing the death overs well in the first game in Perth. He got the crucial wickets in Game 2 of Maxwell, Stoinis and Tim David.

Australia opted not to open the bowling with Mitchell Starc on Wednesday. It is the first time Australia have done that in a T20 international since 2014. Interesting to see whether they maintain that strategy.

Australia dropped four catches in the second T20I, two of them were very difficult chances. Although, they’d be looking to rectify that.

England were very good in the field, typified by Ben Stokes’s amazing effort to stop a certain six from Mitchell Marsh.

Prediction

England win.
