The Ashes begins in Birmingham as Australia and England resume their battle for the most coveted prize in cricket. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 8pm (AEST).

Australia have held the urn since December 2017, with consecutive series wins on home soil and a thrilling 2-2 draw in 2019 enough to retain the Ashes for nearly six years.

England, armed with a new attacking style dubbed ‘BazBall’, are after their first series win against Australia since 2015. Ben Stokes’ team are in red-hot form, having won 10 of 12 Tests since coach Brendon McCullum took the reins a little over 12 months ago.

The Aussies, meanwhile, are also in red-hot form, having dispatched India in a one-sided World Test Championship final less than a week ago. Will they continue their winning ways under Pat Cummins… or is it the Poms’ time to win back those Ashes?
