No let-up for England as Aussie backup bowler takes five in reserves game

With Australia dominating at the Gabba (the first innings at least), Michael Neser was piling on the pain for England’s reserves team down the road.

The Australia A fast bowler took 5 for 29 in 15.3 overs at Ian Healy Oval to bowl the Lions out for just 103.

While England have turned around their fortunes in the Test match, selectors would still be hoping for a better showing from their reserves.

It shows just how much depth Australia now has in its fast bowling stocks with Jhye Richardson, Michael Neser, Mark Steketee, Scott Boland and the all-rounder Mitch Marsh all capable of stepping up if required this summer.

There are some positives for the Lions with pace bowler Liam Norwell taking five Australia A wickets in the first innings and spin bowler Dom Bess taking four.
With Jack Leach getting a severe touch-up from Australia’s bowlers at the Gabba, Bess could be brought in for Adelaide.
