Round 18 of the NRL premiership kicks off tonight when the Cronulla Sharks take on the St George Illawarra Dragons at PointsBet Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:50pm (AEST).

This will be a heated clash between two teams that are always up for a contest in the local derby irrespective of ladder positions.

The Sharks have front-rower Toby Rudolf set to return after three months out with a foot injury to boost a Cronulla team fresh off a bye following their last-start win over Canterbury.

Dragons skipper Ben Hunt will be suiting up after meeting with club officials on Monday and being denied an immediate release from his contract.

Moses Suli is out after suffering a grade-one concussion in Friday’s loss to the Warriors in Wollongong so Tautau Moga has been recalled. Jack Bird (knee) is out of the pack with Toby Couchman recalled to the game-day squad.

St George Illawarra veteran Jack de Belin was pinged twice in his 200th game for a high tackle on Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and a second charge for dangerous contact on Rocco Berry. He opted not to take a two-game ban for each offence, instead of shelling out $6000.

Prediction

This should be a one-sided win to the Sharks but never under-estimate a struggling team in a derby.

The Dragons have been given a rev-up by interim coach Ryan Carr after their pathetic loss last week to the Warriors. Sharks by 8
