Round 11 of Super Rugby Pacific kicks off with a mouth watering clash as the Queensland Reds host the Chiefs at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:45pm AEST.
After a disappointing loss to the Hurricanes last week in the Melbourne Super Round, the Reds have made two changes to their run on side. Angus Scott-Young is back in the side having not played since round two. The backrower has recovered from a knee injury and will line up with Fraser McReight and Harry Wilson.
Coach Brad Thorn has also brought back in Josh Flook who will replace Filipo Daugunu on the wing.
The Reds bench looks fearsome with Lukhan Salakaia-Loto and Seru Uru ready to come on and have an impact but the side will still be missing the experienced James O’Connor and the talent of Jordan Petaia as both are out injured.
Having run out to a 17-0 lead the Reds were devastated to then concede 30 points and lose to the Hurricanes in Melbourne. Having struggled to turn domestic form into success against the Kiwi sides in 2021, this performance will have brought back plenty of bad memories and they will want to start to banish those with a win over the Chiefs in front of a Brisbane crowd.
The Chiefs side looks very similar that scored over 50 points against the Tahs last round with just one change to the forward pack. Sam Cane has returned home to be with his wife as she is due to give birth to their first child. Kaylum Boshier gets another shot in the back row in Cane’s absence and Luke Jacobson will wear the captain’s armband.
Otherwise the New Zealand side are unchanged with Quinn Tupaea starting again on the wing after scoring twice last week despite playing in the position for the first time.
A win for the Chiefs would see them leap frog the Reds on the competition ladder, take fourth spot and potentially have three of the top four sides all from New Zealand come the end of the round.
