South Africa have a shot at claiming the Rugby Championship title as they host Argentina in the final match of the series. Join The Roar for live scores from 1:05am (AEST).
A topsy-turvy Championship ends in Durban, with the Springboks to know exactly what they’ll need to do to pass the All Blacks and claim the mantle/
Currently the team are separated by a points differential of 13, meaning bonus points for the All Blacks against the Wallabies and the Boks against Argentina could make a world of difference.
With Handre Pollard and Damian Willemse ruled out through injury, veteran Frans Steyn is a surprising choice at fly-half; but the 35-year old superboot has experience to burn, even if the last time he wore the 10 at international level was all the way back in 2008.
Michael Cheika has swung two changes for the Pumas, with Juan Imhoff and Matias Moroni coming in for the omitted Lucio Cinti and Matias Orlando. Otherwise, it’s a far more stable line-up than was selected for the first Springboks Test, which resulted in a disappointing 20-36 defeat on home soil.
For all their gains this tournament, chief among them a memorable away victory over the All Blacks, the Pumas could well finish yet another Championship in dead last on the table. Even if winning it all is now all but impossible, they will still be eager to end on a high.
