The Western Force have been thrashed 54-12 by the Stormers in their first Super 14 trial in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Stormers scored seven tries to two against an inexperienced Force side, most of whose Wallaby stars started on the bench.
Skipper and lock Nathan Sharpe made his return from a shoulder injury in the second half, but recruit and Wallabies prop Matt Dunning was sent off on his debut for the Force.
He will face a judiciary on Monday after allegedly punching a Stormers player late in the game.
The Force will play another South African side, the Sharks, on Tuesday in their last match of the three-team pre-season competition.

Poor old Dunning is simply not up to standard sometimes.
He led the Wallaby scrummage into a period where it was not so much feared as chortled at. He dropped field goals with a mixture of both amazing skill for a prop and lack of forethought even for a retarded ferret. He showed the same thought process when punished for an escapade on the grog with Tuquiri. Now, after a 12 months injury enforced rest, his first action is to ensure a date with the judiciary.
I felt very sorry for him when the Wembley turf caused his injury. A disaster waiting to happen that paddock was. He also seems like a personable bloke with whom a beer could be enjoyed. However his stupidity just keeps rolling on

Completely agree about stupidity, wallabies willne in trouble if they are ever forced to rely on this guy again

dont read too much into the result.
The run on team was largely a Shute Shield team playing the likes of Habana etc. A good wake up call for the bench / academy players though as training is nothing like the big league. Interesting to see a crowd of 18,000 as well.

I heard they are showing their ore-season game against Sharks next week live. A close to sellout for that one I suppose.

Funny considering some on here promote the fact that SA dont like Super rugby… 18k to a practice match is outstanding
James said | January 26th 2010 @ 12:24pm | Report comment
The people on here who say SA don’t like Super rugby, know nothing about rugby. If you looked at percentage of full capacity for games in the Super 14 I would guarentee you the SA teams would be the top teams.
