The 2015 Golden Slipper barrier draw has been held, with Gai Waterhouse trained favourite Vancouver drawing the second-widest barrier to hurt the colt’s chances.
A field of 16 plus three emergencies was declared before the draw for the $3.5 million dollar race.
Waterhouse has three runners in her bid for a sixth win, with Vancouver drawing barrier 18 (barrier 15 if the three emergencies don’t get a run), English drawing barrier six, and Speak Fondly given gate 12.
New head trainer for Godolphin, John O’Shea, in his bid for a first Golden Slipper victory has one more runner than Waterhouse to hold the most in the race.
His four chargers drew well with Furnaces drawing barrier 1, Haptic barrier 3, Exosphere barrier 10, and Ottoman barrier 6.
The full field has seven colts and 12 fillies, with three of those fillies emergency runners.
