This weekend’s Group 1 Doncaster Mile has been thrown into chaos with the top chances all drawing wide barriers for the race.

Hallowed Crown is the current market favourite at $4.60 and the two-time Group 1 winning three-year-old drew the second widest position in the field of 20 plus four emergencies, landing 23 of 24.

It was horror luck for the Bart and James Cummings trained colt who will be looking at Golden Slipper favourite Vancouver who was able to overcome a wide barrier with Vancouver’s jockey, Tommy Berry, booked on Hallowed Crown.

Kermadec is also well in the market at $6, but needs two scratchings to gain entry and drew wide with with barrier 19.

Quality Japanese runner Real Impact who won the Group 1 George Ryder on Slipper Day drew barrier 21, while the other Japanese representative World Ace has drawn barrier 16.

Sacred Falls is looking to go for three consecutive Doncaster Miles and is $17 to do that, it is going to be a tough ask though after being drawn gate 20.

Victoria’s leading fancy, the Nigel Blackiston-trained Suavito, is also at $17 after drawing the inside gate, while fellow southern-stater Plucky Belle ($26) has gate eight.

Happy Trails, who will be ridden by champion Victorian hoop Damien Oliver, drew barrier two, and Craig Williams’ mount It’s Somewhat will start from barrier four.
