Chautauqua is fantastic over this distance. Five wins and seven placings from 13 starts over this distance makes him extremely hard to beat, a win on the track squashes any worries there and at $3.50 looks well over the odds.
Exosphere will start favourite. Trialled like an absolute beast but then the tactics were all wrong in the Lightning, if things go better this time around he will really give Chautauqua a good shake of things. I just think $2.80 is too short for my liking at the moment, if there is a bit of rain about Exosphere will benefit from it.
English surged late in the Galaxy along the fence and I suspect Gai Waterhouse has set her filly for this race. $10 is a great price or if you think she can nab a place the $3 on offer is great as well.
Terravista is the forgotten runner in this race. It took a slight drop of the whip from Damien Oliver to cost him the race in the Lightning, and based on that run is really in calculations here. The $3.60 for the place I can’t see lasting long, and $13 is an absolutely ridiculous price, especially when you consider Terravista has won five of seven races on this track, and has five wins from ten over the distance.
A few runners here could run an interesting race but I think the winner will come from the four previously mentioned.
Fell Swoop has been good but gets a severe weight swing that is a negative, Shiraz probably not suited to WFA, Our Boy Malachi has work to do and Rebel Dane and Famous Seamus are getting on in age and probably past their best.
In a strong sprinting race I’m going to back the big grey in.
