TWO GOOD! Zahra wins back-to-back Melbourne Cups on Without a Fight as three horses pull up lame
Without a Fight completed the rare Caulfield Cup-Melbourne Cup double on Tuesday as star jockey Mark Zahra went back-to-back in the big one after…
Ahoy Roarers! We went close in both quaddies last week at Rosehill but as always, three legs out of four don’t make a winner!
I’ll be previewing the quaddies at Canterbury this Saturday, starting off with the early quaddie, with the legs being races two through to five.
The Canterbury track races well on a heavy surface and we can expect a fair racetrack for all runners.
Canterbury Early Quaddie
Leg One- TAB Highway Handicap (Class 3) 1250m:
Raised A Legend, Cheeky and Dylan’s Dynasty look the main speed engaged here. The race really evolves around 1 Ocean Grand. If he turns up anywhere near his best, he’ll spank them. But I’ll cover myself with three back ups.
Suggestion: 1-2-3-12
Leg Two- Schweppes Handicap (74) 1250m:
With Noble Joey out, the speed should be controlled by the Queenslander Dee Nine Elle. Hard to beat, but the trials of 6 Cannyescent have really caught my eye. He is on top for me in what looks a quality three year old race.
Suggestion: 1-2-5-6
Leg Three- Tab.com.au Handicap (93) 1900m:
Black Jag should cross over to lead early before likely handing up to Tradtri. Big watch on 1 Singing, who has form around Protectionist. 5 Pindan Pearl is on top for me given she is in ripping form and down in the weights.
Suggestion: 1-2-3-5-9
Leg Four- #theraces Handicap (83) 1550m:
8 Got Unders has been ridden on speed at his past couple and I don’t see that changing here given there is no other designated leader engaged. I’ve landed with the in form 5 King’s Officer, but big watch on 3 Thunder Down Under, a former kiwi who was awfully impressive last start before being sent to Waller.
Suggestion: 3-4-5-6
$50 investment= 23.80% of the dividend if successful
Canterbury Quaddie
Leg One- TAB Rewards Handicap (78) 1100m:
Freeze The Charges will burn the turf here and lead comfortably. She could well pinch this if she brings his best. 4 Raido is my bet given the record at the track is very good.
Suggestion: 2-3-4-9
Leg Two- July Sprint 1100m:
Hurrara is a reliable beginner who should be near the speed, while I think McEvoy on 8 Redzel will have to roll forward from the wide barrier. He looks one of the better bets on the program based on how well he has bee trialling.
Suggestion: 4-5-6-7-8
Leg Three- TAB More Than Just Winning Handicap (85) 1250m:
They have the potential to go silly in front here with several speed runners engaged. 3 Powerline is bursting to win a race and he gets his chance here IMO.
Suggestion: 3-4-5-7
Leg Four- Myboycharlie @ Vinery Handicap (84) 1100m:
Thorsborne, with no weight on her back and with a good gate, should roll forward. Glenbawn Dame and Highly Geared both have speed too. Each way all day with 8 Princess Command.
Suggestion: 1-5-6-7-8-9
$50 investment= 10.41% of the dividend if successful
