Agreed – you make some very good points. Yes hard to compare eras but my opinion also includes the legacy that they have left on the game. No other man has won the calendar grand slam apart from Laver who did it twice. 200 titles is phenomenal. I know there is probably more competition now and the strain on players may be arguably harder now, but Laver still had some greats to face in his era. The point you make that I should of taken into consideratioon is that yes – many professional’s were playing on a different circuit, but I still think Laver was too good for them over a long period of time.

A classy performance by the world number one. He cruised over the Aussie today in a match that really struggled to live up to any expectations one might of had. Tomic wasn’t too bad today. He lost concentration at some pivotal times and that cost him dearly. There were only one break in each of the three sets so Bernie shouldn’t be too disappointed. The champ goes on at the Championships at Wimbledon, while Tomic will now turn his attention to the Davis Cup. Novak Djokovic too strong on centre court today against Bernard Tomic. Winning 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.

Relentless. The pressure Novak has consistently put Bernard under tonight is unbelievable. His depth of shot and his accuracy with both his forehand and his serve has completely dominated Tomic. Bernard hasn’t been bad tonight, Novak just too good.

That was courageous from Tomic. Djokovic ceasing blood was just about to put this game to rest with three break point opportunities. Bernie saved all three and keeps alive. Djokovic in super touch today but that was a bit of guts from Tomic. Good to see that type of fight.

Too good from the world number one. At 30-30 he took Tomic apart through a majestic backhand down the line before grinding out another fantastic point on break point to give himself the decisive break of serve. Tomic didn’t do a lot wrong, Novak is just playing too well! Ominous signs.

Good hold from Tomic as he just keeps in front here in the second set. Looking at the match stats so far and we can see that Bernie has won just seven points while receiving. Important Bernie can start to find his feet in Djokovic’s service games. Otherwise, the Aussie could be two sets to love down very quickly.

Good work from the Aussie. Liking the way he is beginning to use his forehand to drag Novak out wide testing his defensive game. However Novak is just terrific at turning offence into defence. There are not many weaknesses in the Djokovic game!
