If the 2000 Bledisloe Cup game at the then Australia Stadium in Sydney is regarded as the best game of all time, then the 1992 Tests are acknowledged as the best series ever.

It had everything: the Richard Loe-Paul Carozza incident in the second Test; the goalkicking abilities of Australia’s Michael Lynagh and the All Blacks’ Grant Fox; brilliant end-to-end tries by both teams in all three Tests; and the closest series ever in terms of score aggregates.

Ask any of the players who took part in that series, from All Black captain Sean Fitzpatrick, to Australia’s David Campese, how they rate it and they’ll tell you that it was the best rugby ever played in Bledisloe Cup history.

THE 1992 BLEDISLOE CUP SERIES:
First Test in Sydney
AUSTRALIA 16 NEW ZEALAND 15

Second Test in Brisbane
AUSTRALIA 19 NEW ZEALAND 17

Third Test in Sydney
NEW ZEALAND 26 AUSTRALIA 23
