The big fellow upstairs is sometimes kind, sometimes he appears cruel. Every now and then you must have been living a very good life as he gives you a gift such as Mustafa Amini. Sometimes people cannot see the gift and for them you must feel sorry.

In Mustafa Amini, the big fellow has given A-League fans a big gift and the Mariners the best of all.

Why the Mariners? Well me thinks it’s all the fibs some people have said. We all know the cave man team, the long ball specialist etc. So he has given the Mariners a special gift, a rare gift because it is hard to think of one before him.

The big fellow has given the Mariners arguably the best 17 year old playerI have ever seen play live. Mustafa Amini.

Amini’s display against Perth Glory was one that had me in disbelief. Would he be overawed? Could he handle the physical side of things?

Handle it? He mastered it.

Within twenty minutes Amini was being double marked and at times had three players on him with his shirt being held.

Why was I so impressed? Simple: the speed at which he did things and the control he had on the ball. Some things he did last night were simply sublime. My best was the pass to McBreen; he got in position to receive the ball early sent his defender just enough to open up a small hole and then threaded a pass of such perfect weight, and all in a nanosecond .

My advice is Amini is Europe bound within two years. If you can get to a match and he is playing do yourself a favour and go and watch. A true number 10 he will only get better, so while it is not too late, go and see him play.

A huge congratulations to the Mariner players after playing Amini they convinced LM to have a second look. A huge congratulation to LM for signing the gift the big fellow offered. And finally a mega congratulation to Graham Arnold who played him as a number 10 and did no ask him to come back in defence all night.

The big fellow always gives you a choice and the player some believe was brought in to help develop Amini (and Graham Arnold has hinted as well), Perez may be dropped to play Amini. What to do Arnold… it’s up to you.

But folks enjoy our little gift and go see him play.
