Morris aims to outdo Inglis in Origin II

NSW centre Josh Morris wants Queensland star Greg Inglis to be sick of the sight of him by the end of State of Origin two on Wednesday night in Sydney.

It will be the third clash between the opposing centres in just three weeks and Morris is well and truly aware what to expect.

Although NSW lost the Origin opener in Melbourne and Inglis did ultimately score the match-winner, Morris did a good job defensively on the Maroons weapon.

And last weekend Morris’s Canterbury Bulldogs scored a thrilling victory over Inglis and his South Sydney teammates at NRL level.

Heading into Wednesday’s must-win clash, Morris said game one showed defensive presence won’t be enough and he wants to make an impact with the ball as well.

“You want to outdo your opposite and I’m sure Greg will be thinking the same as well,” Morris told AAP.

“I certainly think we can improve a lot more in attack and we’ll be speaking about that this week.

“By the end of this game we will have probably had enough of each other.

“It takes a lot of concentration, a lot of focus, you’ve got to switch on physically and mentally.

“He’s a handful at the best of times and with the way he’s playing now and how he always performs in Origin you’ve got to be on your job otherwise he’s going to give it to you.”

Also giving Morris a confidence boost heading into the match is that he’s recently been switched to right centre for the Bulldogs – the same side he lines up on for NSW.

That extra familiarity has comforted Morris, who will work closely with his winger Akuila Uate this week to iron out defensive chinks that proved costly in game one.

Uate twice rushed in off his wing, resulting in Queensland’s two first-half tries.

“Obviously they scored those two tries there but we (Uate and I) can still improve and we’ll be looking to do that for game two,” he said.

“The great thing about this side is everyone is pretty close from the first game and leading into the second game it just feels like you’re coming into your normal team.
