Time for Darren Lehmann to step in for Arthur

With all that is going on in Australian Cricket, and all the criticism directed at Mickey Arthur, people are overlooking the great work done by Darren Lehmann.

Queensland, coached by Lehmann, hold all three domestic titles with far from the most impressive line up in the league.

I don’t see how all the controversy caused by Arthur can go without punishment, and I also think the coach would pick up his act if he has some competition for the top job.

I admit he has not had the most amazing line-up put in front of him but there is potential, if only he could guide it the right way.

He could ask for others advice on areas that need assistance, for example the spin-playing department.

Why doesn’t Cricket Australia get someone like Doug Walters to help out? In the 70s Doug didn’t just play spin, he dominated it.

This was shown by his hundred in a session in the Port of Spain 1972, on a turning wicket against Lance Gibbs.

He was arguably the best player of spin of all time. So why isn’t he around the Australian cricket team, teaching them to play spin?

I’m not saying coaching a national cricket team is easy but a little local knowledge goes a long way. And I feel like Lehmann could do a better job then Arthur.

We do need the most capable person to run the team, in a time where our team needs it the most.

Also I fear that Mickey does not care enough about Australian cricket. I fear he just doesn’t want Australia to win enough.

But you can’t really blame him. He was brought up supporting South Africa, and Australia was always a team you would want to beat.

Now he has the biggest job in Australian cricket and I fear his heart isn’t in it.
