I know I know I know, Ange just got in charge of the Socceroos and it’s way too early to be talking about his successor.

Ange will lead the Socceroos to the next World Cup and may have a long period of time at the helm of Australia’s national football side.

But one can’t help but feel that Western Sydney Wanderers coach Tony Popovic is set to have a great coaching career and will eventually be the next coach of the national team.

He’s only been at the helm of the Wanderers for a single season, yet Popovic has already been linked to the Premier League as Ian Holloway’s replacement at Crystal Palace.

While it seems unlikely that Popovic will actually be appointed as manager of Palace he will eventually move on from the Wanderers to somewhere in Europe where he will build an impressive CV and develop a solid set of tactics that can than be used at an international level.

Again I know it’s too early to be talking about who will succeed Ange but come 2018.

However, if Ange hasn’t delivered Popovic will have had an extra five years compared to this time around and will be more than ready to step up.
