Australia’s Cameron Bairstow has landed a three-year NBA deal with the Chicago Bulls.
The franchise on Tuesday confirmed it had signed the Queenslander, whom they picked up in the second round of last month’s draft.
While the terms of the contract weren’t officially disclosed, several reports indicate it is for the next three seasons.
Bairstow, a power forward, completed a successful stint with the Bulls’ NBA Summer League team, averaging 10 points and seven rebounds in five games.
“We like Cameron’s combination as a player with his size, energy and physicality,” Bulls general manager Gar Forman said in a statement.
“He is a hard worker who will only get better with time.”
Bairstow spent four years toiling away in the US college basketball system, playing 134 games for the University of New Mexico.
He stamped his mark as a senior last season, catching the eye of Bulls scouts.
The 23-year-old is set to feature for Australia at this year’s basketball World Cup in Spain, starting late next month, after being named in the Boomers’ preliminary squad.
