Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose has torn a meniscus in his right knee, and will undergo surgery.

He is a rare case of talent who’s success has been hindered by a nightmare run of bad luck and injuries.

The 2011 MVP has received an enormous amount of support from fellow NBA players after the Bulls revealed that Rose will undergo surgery for the second straight season, after an MRI confirmed he had indeed torn his meniscus.

Many NBA players including LeBron James, John Wall, Paul George, Ricky Rubio and DeAndre Jordan have all sent their support for the injured guard over social media.

Rose only managed 10 games last season before suffering the same injury, although the tear is suspected to not be as damaging as last season. It is suspected he will miss the remainder of the season including play-offs, however.

The injury riddled star has missed a total off 192 games in the past four seasons, including the entire 2012-13 season after tearing his ACL. There are many doubts surrounding Rose about whether he will ever be able to return to his MVP form.

Aged 26, have we seen the last of Derrick Rose?
