The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t had many seasons that they’d want to remember in recent times, but maybe this year they can provide something different.

The Lakers have been poor over the last few years. They haven’t been able to click which is showing in the scoreboard dramatically.

Superstar Kobe Bryant is the leader of the franchise and when he went down last season, the team crumbled with him.

The Lakers had their worst season in 2014-15, although they did have a little ray of sunshine in Jordan Clarkson, who was providing a lot. He was a bright light for a young and inexperienced Lakers team, which didn’t have anyone who had played more than five seasons without Bryant.

During the off-season, Los Angeles were hoping to add some key stars. DeMarcus Cousins and Kevin Durant were the main players that were rumoured to be linked to the Lakers, but the franchise failed to add them to the roster.

However, they did pick up some key players.

The Lakers added the big giant from Indiana, Roy Hibbert, who is known for his massive height of 7’2″. Hibbert can dominate the game at times but can also look like an un-drafted rookie. He will be a great get for the Lakers.

Lou Williams also joined the team, and the deadeye shooter from Atlanta will provide some spark off the bench. Big boy Brandon Bass has also joined from the Celtics, and he will provide some height for the team.

Los Angeles drafted Julius Randle last year with pick seven, but unfortunately he broke his leg in his first 10 minutes and didn’t return for the entire the season. We haven’t seen much of him yet and he will be like a new addition for the team.

The Lakers were lucky enough to grab the second pick in the draft recently and they drafted the talented point guard D’Angelo Russell. Russell is a fantastic point guard who might be the Lakers’ next big thing.

I think that if Bryant can stay healthy and the team can work together, that this team are definitely playoff contenders. No one is giving them a chance but I think they might be able to produce something. On the other hand, if they do not click together, they will finish last and the confidence will plummet.

I’m excited to see this team play and it’s not long before the season starts.
