British tennis player Naomi Broady called for a disqualification on her opponent, Jelena Ostapenko, claiming she deliberately threw her racquet which ended up hitting a ball boy.
The incident happened in the tie-break of the second set when Ostapenko was beaten by a clear winner but let go of her racquet towards the ball. The racquet hit the wall and rebounded into the ball boy but the umpire deemed it accidental, much to Broady’s disgust.
The match itself was dramatic enough, with Broady saving two match points to eventually prevail over the Russian.
After the pair shook hands at the net a verbal stoush began with Broady heard shouting “You hit the ball boy with your racquet.”
