The stiff holding the ball and harsh 50m penalty that cost Bombers game-sealing Suns goal
Were Essendon hard done by at the death against Gold Coast?
The Gold Coast Suns have secured a staple set of hands in their forward line for the coming seasons, with Tom Lynch extending his contract with the club through until the end of 2018.
The 2015 club champion has been a shining light in the Suns’ forward line during recent seasons, finishing 2014 and 2015 with 46 and 43 goals respectively.
Speaking on the signing, Lynch said, “It was always my intention to re-sign with the Suns and I felt there was no better time to do it.”
“We’ve worked hard, especially during the last six to twelve months, to grow our leadership and shift our culture, and although the job is not done yet, there is a real sense of urgency and excitement about the future.
“We are continuing to build a culture of leadership and accountability on and off the field. Everyone involved in the club is aware of the responsibility we all have to the Gold Coast community, the AFL and our fans to perform on and off the field.
“We know what’s expected and we make no exceptions in holding each other to account.”
The Suns are one of just two clubs to start the 2016 season with two wins after they secured one of the best wins in their club’s history, beating the Fremantle Dockers in Perth in Round 2.
Lynch has played 82 games for the Suns since 2011, booting 133 goals.

Did Ned Moyle get a fingertip on this Nick Hind goal?
"Pull out your earpiece, umpire!"
Andrew Brayshaw hasn’t reached the heights that he did when selected in the AFL All-Australian team in 2022, but has still been a solid contributor.
Max King's improved performance against Melbourne will hopefully give Saints fans some optimism that he can lead the Saints to be more potent offensively.
If the Dockers want to make a statement and confirm their September credentials, it starts with a big game against the Premiers on Friday night.
