Denver's defence is in order, an apparently so is their attack

Trevor Siemian was drafted with pick 250, in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL draft, just six picks away from Mr. Irrelevant, Gerald Christian.

Siemian was the only quarterback picked in the last 109 picks in the draft.

Before Siemian was even taken by the Broncos, he nearly gave up on football.

Siemian had a forgettable college career at Northwestern that ended with a knee injury and led to the quarterback applying for jobs in real estate.

In his first season with the Broncos he took one snap, a single kneel down before half time.

Prior to this season Siemian was behind Mark Sanchez and Paxton Lynch for the starting job and it looked as though it would be another season on the sidelines.

Siemian shocked the footballing world and won the starting job, and has now taken two wins in two impressive performances.

In his first two career starts he has beaten two quarterbacks who are former number one picks themselves.

Cam Newton, the reigning MVP, and the mercurial Andrew Luck.

Who’d have thought it?

The sophomore quarterback has thrown for 444 yards and one touchdown at 67.8 per cent accuracy, helping guide the Broncos to two wins.

At 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, Siemian is exactly the sort of physical specimen John Elway and Gary Kubiak love to have under centre.

To go with his imposing frame, Siemian has also picked up handy yards with his feet and shown great movement in the pocket.

Many will argue that he is safeguarded by the best defence in the league, he is showing that he can make plays of his own too.

The 24-year-old from Florida was making back foot and across the shoulder throws in week one we didn’t see from Manning or Osweiler last season.

Despite all the talk about Siemian being a place holder for Paxton Lynch to develop, he is making the job his own, and even tougher for Lynch to steal.
