NBL Grand Final: Breakers bullish about upsetting Kings in royal rumble - 'Best-of-five's a different animal'
News from on and off court around the NBL.
The Sydney Kings are promising a Halloween spectacular this Sunday afternoon when they take on the Brisbane Bullets at Qudos Bank Area.
Are Kings fans in for a treat? Or could this be Nightmare at Olympic Park: The sequel?
The ladder leaders recorded their only loss of the season against the reborn Bullets in their season opener. Fighting back from an 11-point deficit, the Kings fell short by four points, going down 73-77.
So, what’s changed since the two sides last met? And what can we expect this time around?
Steve Blake is the new big name addition to Andrew Gaze’s army. The former NBA point guard will make his Kings debut against the Bullets.
He replaces delisted import Michael Bryson, who averaged just 1.8 points, one rebound, and 0.8 assists from four games.
Blake has played alongside superstars such as Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Dwight Howard and Steve Nash. The Kings will be relying on the 36-year-old’s wealth of experience to help lead the charge on the court.
The Bullets side has been a force to be reckoned with since its return to the competition. After a strong start to the season, they sit in third position, having dropped two games to Adelaide and Melbourne United.
They’re expected to be a true test of form for the Kings who’ve recorded their four wins against the three bottom sides.
Will the Kings be haunted by the ghosts of games past?
After an impressive performance against the Illawarra Hawks at home, Sydney will be looking to continue their four-game winning streak.
But, if any side knows what it takes to shake up the Kings in their kingdom, it’s the Bullets.
Prediction: Kings by 4 points.
The game kicks off at 3pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports 3 and NBL.TV.
