Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry has set a mind-boggling new NBA record during his side’s win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Curry knocked down 13 three-pointers, breaking the previous record for the most successful long-distance buckets in a single NBA game.

That old record of 12 made threes was set by retired Lakers legend Kobe Bryant in 2003 when he dropped in 45 points against the hapless Toronto Raptors.

It was later equalled by Toronto’s own Donyell Marshall in 2005 against the Philadelphia 76ers and Curry himself earlier this year when the Warriors played the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Curry’s latest effort saw him notch 46 points and helped the Warriors to a comfortable 116-106 win over the Pelicans. The 13 threes, which came from just 17 attempts – an incredible three-point percentage of 76.5% – easily overshadowed the efforts of New Orleans’ own star, Anthony Davis, who dropped 33 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a losing effort.

Curry has made a habit of breaking the NBA’s three-point records in his career to date. In only his fourth year in the league, the sharpshooter made 272 three-pointers, just surpassing the previous mark of 269 set by Ray Allen.

The Warriors star then bettered that in 2014-15, setting a new season record of 286 made threes, then outdid himself once again last season, annihilating his old record with 402 long-distance makes.

The baby-faced point guard also holds the record for the most successive games with a made three-pointer at 157, a streak which was only ended last week when the Warriors went down in a shock loss to the Lakers.

And, just for something completely different, he also set the record for the most makes from downtown in an NBA finals series earlier this year. Curry made his 28th three in Game 7 of the Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, seeing him go past Danny Green’s old mark of 27, which was set in 2013.

Today’s game against New Orleans saw Curry move up to 18th spot in the list of players with the most three-pointers in NBA history with 1612 treys, and there’s little doubt he’ll be honing in on Allen’s all-time record of 2973 by the end of his career.

The effort against the Pelicans is also the seventh time in Curry’s career that he’s made ten or more threes.

And yep, you guessed it, that’s also an NBA record.
