Opinion
The Ravens were one of the unluckiest teams in 2021-22, missing multiple starters through injury. What does this season hold for them?
Strength
The Ravens have one of the biggest weapons in the NFL at their disposal, quarterback Lamar Jackson.
He is one of the most explosive and dynamic athletes we have seen at the position and because of this, the Ravens have a formidable running attack.
They ranked third for rushing attempts and yards last season, that being without Jackson for the second half. With him healthy, watch out NFL.
Weakness
The Ravens had no luck with injury last season, and it led to their defence being the worst in the league for passing yards allowed. Marcus Peters will return after a preseason ACL injury, they drafted star college safety Kyle Hamilton with the 14th pick in the draft, and signed former New Orleans safety Marcus Williams to a big contract.
The Ravens will need these inclusions to impact for this to improve.
Player to watch
Baltimore traded away Hollywood Brown during the draft and it left a hole at wide receiver. Despite being a run-first offence, they still require a different maker out wide. This can be Rashod Bateman, the second-year player from Minnesota, who had an injury-interrupted rookie year but showed flashes of greatness.
Who’s under pressure?
Marlon Humphrey has been an All-Pro cornerback and multiple pro-bowl player throughout his six-year career so far. However, 2021-22 was statistically his worst year by a long way.
He can be a star player on a good defence, but he needs to bring his play to another level to get back to the past.
Projection
The fact the Ravens were able to go 8-9 last season with the quality of players filling the injury list is unbelievable. If they can have some better luck this season, they will be a serious Superbowl contender.
Win-loss: 13-4
