Great article but totally missed the target with Owens and the Boks v Wobblies match.
Owens was near invisible in that match in comparison to others, how can you say a match with so many 20 + phase runs be over reff’ed ?

To be fair, I don’t think you are giving enough credit to just how right in the head a batsman has to be to play quality aggressive pace.
When a guy is bowling at your head/body and you have .3 of a second to both decide how to play it AND then make your shot, anything less than perfect concentration will see you undone and possibly injured.
Few people would know that stress.
