Matilda was the nickname given to the “swag” a Swagman carried.
Matildas was also the common name for all women. Much as Sheilas was used in the middle of last century. :/

Every other code has one, so what should Australia's cricket nickname be?

Can’t drop Ferguson or Mennie after just one test. Although I wouldn’t have started them last test. :/
Sayers and Handscomb would have been my picks.
So Handscomb in for Voges would be my only (forced) change.
Lyon is looking dour and boring. No penetration. Steve O’Keefe should take his spot by the end of the summer.
Shaun Marsh to come in for Joe Burns if and when he’s fit.
Sticking with Nevill. Keeper getting runs is just a bonus, not an imperative. :/
So:
Warner
Burns
Khawaja
Smith
Handscomb
Ferguson
Nevill
Starc
Hazelwood
Mennie
Lyon

The team to lift Australia out of the mire

Barely get over the line against Scotland and the play the B’s against France? 🙁

France vs Wallabies: Kick-off time, date, teams, TV guide - France vs Australia Spring Tour Test

Sometimes you are correct. :p

Australian sports biographies of 2016

Have to agree, Dan.
Was always a fan of Ludeman being the next Aussie ‘keeper. Said it before Nevill got the gig, when Wade was under pressure.
That said, it looks like Alex Carey is the next wunderkind and has usurped Ludeman, but it’s way to early to be promoting him to the Australian team, imho.
Carey might realistically be the answer to all our woes in a few years.
In the meantime stick with Nevill. There is nothing wrong with his keeping, he’s just short a few runs. These may come, if peple just get off his back. :/
As far as the short forms of the game go, I don’t mind playing a “bit-part” player; a batsmen who can do a bit of keeping. :/

Who's Australia's best wicketkeeper?

Thank you, Nemesis. Appreciate the news.
Wish I read this yesterday. :/

Socceroos sticking to guns in Saudi Arabia

Sorry, Republican; But most people are contemptuous of a city built solely to service politicians. :/

Dennis Cometti in '89: The best call ever?

Thanks JD.
Classic Commetti.
Stolen and posted on Facebook. 😀

Dennis Cometti in '89: The best call ever?

Every declaration David Hookes made as captain of South Australia! He was truly unfathomable at times. 😀

And the award for the worst declaration in history goes to: Part 2

This must be the match you were referring to, i guess:

Classic case of the WIndies bouncing a team out in the 70’s/80’s halcyon days of speed demons. :/

As a Crow fan, I do hope Thommo plays on. He’s still easily in the best 18, let alone 22. If he hits his fitness markers going into pre-season, I hope that they offer him a new contract, if that’s what he wants. :/

Crows skipper wants Thompson to play on

Definitely would have averaged over 50 in the modern era.
Was the most gifted player I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen many.
All class; Batting, fielding, bowling and off the field. 🙂

Unhurried: The enduring appeal of Mark Waugh

Spot on. Our forward line is the most potent in the league for a reason. If Eddie has an off week, their are plenty of others to pick up the slack.
As with any game, it’s the midfield that sets up the game, and it’s there that the game against the Swans will be won or lost.

Five talking points from Adelaide Crows vs North Melbourne Kangaroos AFL elimination final

Agreed. Great trade bait, and about as good as the boy can be. Who knows what we might get, instead?

Five talking points from Adelaide Crows vs North Melbourne Kangaroos AFL elimination final

Rubbish. The Cows will win this years flag and probably next years, too. :p

Adelaide Crows players of the year and season review

Jordan is a once in a lifetime type player. It’s unlikely you will see anyone that good again. 🙁

The Boomers' 2020 Tokyo squad can defy history

Get Kodi for your android device. Get an add-on for live streaming European coverage. I recommend Sport Devil. :/

Fans fume as Seven's Olympic App struggles on Day 1

15 a side, 20 minute quarters. No time on. Deep bench. Ten maybe?
One game in the bye weekend. Mini draft like the pro bowl.
Second game with a second round draft as the GF curtain raiser. Increasing the available players by 6 teams.
It could work but it would take a lot of time, consideration, thought and planning. None of which are AFL House renowned for.
Long kicking, speed kicking comps are a no-brainer.
Deffo like the Harlem Globetrotters concept. Reckon it would happen anyway with audience participation in the selection process.
Just a few random thoughts to throw into the mix. :/

The case for an AFL All-Star game

Bloody commentators curse. 🙁

Time for Orica-BikeExchange to target the green jersey

Abso-bloody-lutely. Looked great, but……CHARGE! 🙁

Watch the throne: Dangerfield stakes his claim as the game’s best

Agree and agree. With both points.
However, I still say gravel traps and grass are better because the driver knows he can kill his whole race with one silly move, while tarmac runoff just mean:. Ooops, I’ll try something different next time, after I hand the place back. 🙁
Doesn’t the risky overtakes tarmac runoffs have provided for (re your point) lead to more silly crashes? And, therefore worse safety? Just sayin’.

Can’t agree more about Hermann Tilke. Worst thing to happen to F1 in the past 20 years. 🙁

F1 needs more tracks like Montreal — and it can have them

Absolutely agree, Johnno.
And yep, Hardcore, there has to be a rort there somewhere.
So the answer is a Pan-Pac competition just like swimming. East Asia and the Americas. Every 4 years. Yep. That’d work for me. 😀
First and best is split Asia into 2. East Asia absorbs Oceania. But will it happen?

If Japan and China can play in the Copa America, why not Australia?

Absolutely correct, Fadida,
Not a patch on Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen, David Beckham, Paul Gascoigne, et al. :p

Predicting the breakout superstars of Euro 2016

Mid-table? They’ll be back in Europe after next season. Agree that Jurgen Klopp is going in the right direction, although I can’t see him attracting Reus or Gotze without the riches of Europe. :/

Liverpool's Europa League loss is still a success
