I am a huge fan of Cricket and Football (Soccer). I am a huge fan of Manchester United and I love my great state of Victoria in the cricket. I am a bit of a traditionalist and I love my Test cricket much more than my ODI and T20 cricket. If pushed the Stars are the team to go for. Happy reading!

I agree 100% Kopa. No doubt he has skill and talent, but sometimes he is hyped too much

Why Jofra Archer won't be England's saviour

I worry that he may be sucked in by the money in shorter forms to not properly give 100% to the Test format. He is a bit of a globe trotter, and I hope a spell in Test will help mould his talent to be a bit more patient. I no doubt think his pace will blast out some of the weaker batsmen in the Aussie XI, but I also think he will struggle against Smith, and maybe Khawaja and Head, who have those gears and solid technique in defence.

Why Jofra Archer won't be England's saviour

I would still be very much sceptical about his abilities if he were an Australian pace merchant, mostly based on his success in limited overs, which makes me worry he will not be able to adapt to Test cricket for a few years yet, as he might be too erratic and impatient, unlike an Anderson (who does need to consider hanging up the boots) and Broad.

Why Jofra Archer won't be England's saviour

I predict Archer to flop

How Australia rediscovered their golden era mojo

Also, to add to Ryan, Siddle mainly gained selection from decimating the English County Comp. for 3 years, maybe 2

Australia needs to take the same XI to Lord's

I agree with these, all very good! Especially Archer.

Spoiler alert: The Ashes stories that will emerge

I am a bowler so I love seeing it, but I am a tad worried that short form cricket might pull the pendulum and drag it back to the middle a lot longer than it should normally

Why Mitchell Marsh cannot start the first Ashes Test

That is what has thrown me the most, I was expecting a seaming deck with some grass on it that might crumble later on

Pace stars in Ashes battle, while Bancroft firms as Aussie opener

Hopefully the pendulum will swing back towards some stronger batting, with some great matches again between bat and ball. I remember the 2006 Adelaide match as a true great, even if I was only 4 at the time.

Why Mitchell Marsh cannot start the first Ashes Test

Great Article! I agree 100% and it is important to recognise Labuschagne is a very good sweeper too

Why Labuschagne should be selected over Wade

Unfortunate indeed, but possibly the bowling ability has increased whilst short form cricket has eroded techniques of batsmen?

Why Mitchell Marsh cannot start the first Ashes Test

Which is not a bad number seeing as in the same time England have capped 692.

Why Mitchell Marsh cannot start the first Ashes Test

Would you agree that we put too much expectation on our players to be like the greats?

Why Mitchell Marsh cannot start the first Ashes Test

Then explain why we won a lot more than we lost with such selfish batting? And scoring runs certainly helps become great, but not the only criteria. I would like you to explain how my argument of success is invalid, because surely Australia should not have been so dominate and successful?
I am curious to know what your definition of great is?

Why Mitchell Marsh cannot start the first Ashes Test

Great Article Glenn, Exact same line-up as me

Sure things and surprises in my Aussie Ashes team

Lords will be interesting indeed

Why Mitchell Marsh cannot start the first Ashes Test

I was being a tad sarcastic

Four options to be Australia's future first drop

Good luck with the article mate! I would note that Cummins and Pattinson can bowl in excess of 145km’s so they have pace and accuracy. I don’t think Archer will do as well as everyone thinks, and I hope he doesn’t either, he just hasn’t played enough FC to deserve his spot in recent times

Why Mitchell Marsh cannot start the first Ashes Test

At a time when an average of 40 was pretty good

Why Mitchell Marsh cannot start the first Ashes Test

Thats why it is important IMO to use Siddle and Pattinson early because they are used to pitching it up, then look to Hoff and Starc latter on where pace would help us.

Why Mitchell Marsh cannot start the first Ashes Test

I think people do mention Mitch Swepson and Lloyd Pope, people being Shane Warne. No doubt they just are not up to it yet. I really think CA should put the foot down and get serious about their test cricket and force the batsmen to play county cricket every two or three seasons minimum. Also, a massive shield revamp to the cash cow that the Indians contribute nothing to isn’t destroying FC form with slogathons. I think Patterson and Puckovski should probably try and spend as much time in other countries long form competitions as possible rather than be payed the big bucks for IPL, BBL etc. It worked for Sir Alastair Cook, and it would help our batting to no end

Four options to be Australia's future first drop

I always like to challenge myself with articles like this and look to the future a little bit. You do make a great point about the overseas, where someone like Burns might be a good 3 since he has a few gears. I think Patterson could be strong overseas if we need that rock at three, but certainly I like maybe Marnus at three in India due to his strong sweeping and maybe a Puckovski at home. I love debating and considering all the potential combinations of a squad. You have to remember too that someone like Renshaw is only young, so we are really quite blessed with Openers and Lower Order batsmen, but 3 & 4 are a bit trickier without Smith and Khawaja

Four options to be Australia's future first drop

Gee, Its a bit rough on Ponting to compare him to Stoinis isn’t it?

Four options to be Australia's future first drop

Maxwell is not. I like Langer as a coach, but I do think that he is a little biased. He grates me a little with some things he says and I think a Gillespie or Ponting would be good

Why Mitchell Marsh cannot start the first Ashes Test

Unfortunately we all know that to be true. Unlike every other player, he must have been told by the selectors, well done Mitch, youve had one good game, first test is yours!
